As a nonprofit, we do ask for help with the aspects of keeping us afloat, but never have I needed to ask so often in a year. I will not stop supporting the veterans who come here for solace, and I merely do not want to charge them for their services here because of what they have given us! But I'm at a loss. Today is Giving Tuesday. This is where we gather donations to prepare for the resources needed for 2024. We gather supplies, repair indoor structures where sessions are held in poor weather, recruit and advertise for veterans seeking SUD and su***de prevention assistance, and catch up on the 2k a week feed bill for the horses who support them, the 1k 8 times a year for Farrier, the vet, the meds and special diets. When you donate to us, you change the lives of a service member AND an abandoned, neglected animal. Everything helps. Funds do not go to employees. Nor do they pay me. Jasmine is a 3 year old Quarter Horse rescue mare. She is easily one of the sweetest horses I've ever met. She broke her fetlock, and then was discarded. She is now comfortable, happy, abnd safe. But the fetlock issue will get worse. We have an opportunity to give her an even better life with an orthotic made just for her! This is a $1500 endeavor. This year, in conjunction with Sweet Tea Photography, we will be holding horse portrait mini sessions. She is donating her time and equipment 100% to this cause. Choose a horse, we'll get 'em dressed up, and you and your loved ones get 5 edited, beautiful holiday pictures! They are yours! 20 minutes is all you need, so in and out of the cold. Gorgeous snowy Black Forest background. Every dime goes to Jasmine and her orthotic. $125 per session. Get pictures, help an innocent being have a great holiday, and get the family together. This has all been very difficult. But people like you remind me good exists. Just to be sure you know I see you, I wanted to make this statement publicly. Thank you for taking care of the babies that mean everything to me. In 12° weather. Capable and willing. Thank you for seeing me through this. You are a few of my "solid ones." And you proved it.

Introduction time: welcome, Jeremy D Shults. For over a decade, I have known this man. He's never had it easy, but his resilience and ability to maintain his sense of humor is an inspiration. I've watched him fall and watched him get up. We've held each other up for years, and he and I really understand each other. I'm honored to be part of his journey and play a part in his recovery. At each other's worst, we remained close, which is why I know he will be outstanding in this role as our new CAT. I'm excited to see this journey he is about to embark upon.

Hello, everyone! I'm Jeremy Shults, and I have an amazing story to tell about the life I have lived, and how, by the Grace of God, I managed to survive.
I wouldn't have survived had it not been for Divine Intervention. I truly believe the reason I survived was so I could help others struggling with substance use and/or alcoholism. There is nothing anyone can talk to me about regarding substance abuse that I wouldn't understand.

Therefore, I've chosen to focus on helping others by becoming a Certified Addictions
Tech and joining Destinacion’s Therapy and Maybell’s Mission INC. in order to do just that. I know sharing my own experiences, and what can and will happen when continuing to use, will support others in a big way. I have the stories, scars, and legal battles to prove we can overcome this disease. Addiction has cost me friends, family members, and time I'll never get back again.

At almost 50, I can say I barely made it here alive; many don't. I truly just want to help those who need a compass for the journey ahead as they make their way through hell, as I have. As a recovering survivor of substance abuse and alcoholism, I understand the highs and lows my clients will experience. For example, I never finished my schooling to become an EMT because I was arrested for drugs before its completion. My Addictions have cost me so much. But, I believe, here is where I belong and it's why I went through all I did.

Prior to becoming a Certified Addictions Tech, I was an Iron Worker and Certified Welder. I'm a hard worker and am passionate about all I do.

I can't wait to meet new people with stories of inspiration, to work with them all, and help others find their new life. My tattoos may make me appear intimidating, but I assure you, I'm just a big teddy bear. I am all heart and have been given this amazing opportunity to use it to help others. My main goal is to help others save their life, or the life of someone they love, who is feeling lost. I hope many people allow me to do just that. I look forward to the future. Together, we will address those substance abuse concerns, and I offer equine assisted therapy, groups, classes, and office therapy, among many other innovative, state-approved modalities. Your experience is sure to be impactful and unique. God bless you. And I know, by the way, that angels are real!

Every day, we make sure the animals have everything they need. I work hard to provide for them. When I can't work, then what? I will be out 6 weeks post-surgery. I answer the call 24/7 for people, clients, and friends and animals 365. I need help! And people are silent. I'm a little worried how we will do this. I don't have a husband to help. Even the best laid plans go awry.
Community, I need help. And I hate it. But I'm at a loss. I've been pretty sick. Scary stuff for me, as I've always been resilient and capable. We do not get the gobs of donations seen all over the place near me. I bust my butt for this place. I give, and then, give more. I love saving people and animals. My dream. But now, I need help. Being sick, in hospitals and at doctors, has left my hay fund empty. Because I couldn't work, we fell behind. I am asking this community to please help me through this time. 50 people donating 10 dollars will end this struggle for me. There is a company match available IF we raise this amount. Major shout out to Black Forest's own H & H Fencing. Our rescue suffered the loss of a foal at birth today. Without hesitation, they volunteered their time and very expensive equipment to properly bury the sweet baby. If you want to support local, and work with amazing people who will be respectful of you, this is the place to go! We thank them immensely!

If you do nothing else today, listen to this! This beautiful song, among others he has, is being sung by Jeremy D Shults (aka, The Welder, to my friends and family). If you knew the turmoil he's endured, you'd perhaps appreciate it more. But I think his gentle soul shines through in his singing. He is the epitome of perseverance, fortitude, power, and determination. People like him don't come around often. He's never a victim, always a survivor, and hearing he is talented means everything to him right now, and remembering he has so much to offer this world helps along the way. As you listen, know you're listening to someone of sheer importance in this world. And he's nice to look at, too 😉 I want him to know he is seen!
