WCHR Week did not disappoint for the MSS Crew! Congratulations to all of our riders and horses on great scores, fantastic, progressive rounds, good ribbons, and above all, fantastic sport and horsemanship. The team work, support, and energy that each and every one of you brought to the week is inspiring. Watching you all support one another and truly enjoy our sport, whether in the saddle, or as pit crew, is what makes it all worth it.

As we head into Week 6, we at MSS reflect on Weeks 5 and all of their success and happiness. Not only did we achieve amazing accolades in the ring, but we got to spend quality time with friends and family, and the amazing “baby Ronan” joined us for some fun in the sun, as did , the backbone of our northern operation. Both and won an over fences class in their respective divisions, laid down beautiful, consistent rounds in both the hunters and the eq, and resident trainer earning high scores and placings throughout the week, including an 86.75 on Ravello in the 3’3 ESP Hunters, and an 82.5 in the 3’3 Green Hunters on Halcyon. We cannot wait to kick off WCHR week tomorrow, and wish all of our riders good luck!

Today was a good day. Not all days are about ribbons and accolades. Today, this remarkable horse stepped back into the show ring (for warm ups) after sustaining an injury 8 months ago. His mom, meticulously rehabbed him under the guidance of , and he is back, better than ever. Having him back in the ring today, jazz hands and all (😂😂) was a feeling better than any championship. Thank you endlessly to our team that ensured that this horse had all of the prep, care, and after care, that he needed to recover from an injury that MANY would not have come back from so well. The well being of the horse above all else, always.

Congratulations and welcome back to ! Em was one of, if not my first student when I was just 18 years old! She recently rejoined our team (THIS WEEK) with her two incredibly talented and kind youngsters. Today, Emily finished 5th in the under saddle and 8th overall fences with her 5 year old Bazooka. The future is so bright for Emily and her partners. We cannot wait to see what these guys will accomplish together!

Murphy Show Stables is very excited to announce that they will be working in collaboration with Copper Hill Stables beginning this winter at two beautiful locations, Ivy League Farms in Colts Neck, and Grace Farms in Middletown New Jersey as well as our location in Wellington Florida for the snowbirds! Our dynamic team will be offering lessons for all ages and levels and professional training programs for the competitive hunter, jumper, and equitation teams as well as the dressage enthusiasts! completed her FIRST ever derby on her Halcyon with a beautiful trip.

Dreadnought Moon, owned by took his first off-property field trip and behaved like a perfect gentleman and old pro.

Horse first, ALWAYS 💜🦄

“Know that old gelding of yours? You know, the trusty gelding who taught you to ride. We all have one in our pasture. He was the first horse you trusted with your kids. Everything this horse has done has had a purpose behind it.

Now his joints are starting to show arthritis from all the learning you two did together. He probably has slowed down and need a little extra food. Your family is ready for something with a little more speed and he doesn’t fit the bill. So you convince yourself you are letting him go so he can help teach another child. In your mind, you see him happily trotting down the road with a sweet little girl on his back.

In reality, that little girl will ride and love him for a few years. However, she outgrows him. He’s even slower and she’s ready to run. Her family is not bonded with your horse like you were. They sell him to the inexperienced family down the road.

This family knows nothing about horses. They don’t know how to feed an aged horse. He looses weight. Soon it’s so bad they keep him in the back pasture where no one can see him.
Finally, they take him to a sale.

No one at the sale wants a neglected, aged horse. So he goes through the ring and sells for $400 to a killbuyer. The killpen is where I find him. I know nothing about his history and nothing about his health. All I can see is the wisdom and pain in his eyes. I take him home.

As much as I love what I do, I would love to never see one of these poor old guys again. It breaks my heart to know that this is the story of so many animals out there.

So please, please keep your aged horses. If you can no longer afford them, lease them to a friend or put them down. No one deserves for their life to end this way.”

Congratulations and on a great day today at the Fall Finale, bringing home top ribbons in both the equitation and the hunters! Thank you for hosting a beautiful event, and all those involved in putting it together, it ran smoothly, efficiently and kindly. Our team had a TON of laughs, a ton of good rides, and learned even more! Some very important fundamentals were reinforced at this final for these two teams, with excellent horsemanship and sportsmanship, and we could not be more proud! Watching you two young ladies develop both as horsewoman and as individuals has been an absolute pleasure. It makes all the early mornings, long days, and late nights worth it. Keep reaching for the stars, lifting each other up, and loving your partners, and the sky is the limit. 💜🦄

A very special thank you to for everything you do for our horses and riders, you are our backbone, your commitment to these animals and your ability and willingness to advocate for them is unparalleled. We are SO lucky to have you.

Thank you for ALWAYS jumping in, you wear many hats (dad, horse dad, nurse, professor, chauffeur , horse taxi, magnawaver, groom, grounds keeping, “nanny”, friend, and many more) yet you always have a positive outlook and provide us with laughs (keep the daily jokes coming!). Thank you for coming out to hang in the cold and wind, providing food and beverage, and making our riders feel like gold! HUGE congratulations to on being RESERVE CHAMPION at Zone 2 Finals today. Your hard work and dedication to your sport, your horse, and your barn are inspiring. You work so hard and are truly deserving of this award. You had beautiful and consistent trips today, and Sun-Bun was a rock star! Chase you’re dreams kid, the sky is the limit.
