Meet Louie – your new best friend! 🐾

Louie is a sweet and playful guy who's looking for someone who can give him the time, patience, and love he needs to blossom. Though he might need a little time to warm up in new situations, Louie is gentle and shows a lot of potential once he feels comfortable.

He was an absolute champ walking in the rain, showing off his determination and courage. While Louie may not be overly interested in treats right now, he’s definitely got a soft side – he takes them gently when he does. He’s also a cuddle bug who loves sitting next to you, offering you the perfect opportunity for some quiet bonding time. Louie loves running around and exploring, but don’t be surprised if he needs a bit of space to settle in first.
He's a smart and independent boy – once he trusts you, he’ll be ready to follow your lead.

A little note: He’d likely do best in a home without kids under 12, as he can be a bit sensitive in certain situations, but with the right adults and environment, he’s ready to be your loyal and loving companion.

If you’re looking for a loving and energetic buddy who just needs a little time to adjust, Louie might be the perfect fit for you. He's ready to find his forever home – will it be with you? To meet Louie, please contact his consultant, Kymber, at 440-506-3055.

Meet Lexi – A Sweet, Shy Soul Looking for Love 🐾

Lexi is an adult Rottweiler with a gentle heart and a tender spirit. Due to a difficult past, she can be quite nervous and needs a patient, loving person who can help her feel safe and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place. With time, trust, and kindness, Lexi begins to blossom—revealing a loyal and affectionate companion who adores being petted and staying close to her person.

Once she settles in, Lexi's warm personality truly shines. She also does well with other dogs and would benefit from a calm and reassuring canine friend.

If you have a quiet home, a big heart, and the patience to help a deserving girl rediscover joy, Lexi could be the perfect addition to your family.

The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A meet-and-greet is required for all shelter dogs 6 months and older if you already have a dog. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

Skylar, our June Cat of the Month, is Available for Foster to Adopt

Skylar is so beautiful with the longest whiskers and kind, soulful eyes. She came to us in December after being surrendered by her previous owner and during her intake it was observed that she arrived declawed. Although she’s had a little rough patch with an upset tummy, she’s now feeling much better and is ready for a fresh start in a forever home where she can be the only cat. Skylar is currently eating Prescription GI Biome.

Skylar's a resilient girl who’s full of love and attention to give. Skylar is scheduled for a dental procedure in early July. She is currently available for Foster To Adopt while waiting on her appointment.

Skylar is waiting for that special person who will see her gentle nature and offer her the affection and security she deserves and perhaps that person is specifically looking for a feline companion that is no longer in the phase of getting into mischief or the energy level that kittens have. Could that be you? Come meet Skylar and see how easy it is to fall in love with this sweet girl. Skylar is available by consultant. Please email [email protected].

The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing [email protected]. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

During hot weather, concrete, asphalt and blacktop can become dangerously hot and cause burns to pets' paws. It's crucial to protect pets from these surfaces by walking them on grass or in shaded areas, or by using booties or paw wax for added protection.

Hot Surfaces:
Asphalt, concrete, and even sand can heat up significantly in direct sunlight, especially during the summer months.

Paw Sensitivity:
Pets' paws are sensitive to heat and can be easily burned on hot surfaces.

Burn Risk:
Even brief exposure to hot surfaces can cause burns to a pet's paw pads, leading to pain and discomfort.

Safety Measures:
Avoid Hot Surfaces: Whenever possible, walk your pet on cooler surfaces like grass or in shaded areas.

Consider Paw Protection: If you must walk your pet on hot surfaces, consider using paw wax or booties to protect their paws.

Timing is Key: Plan walks for cooler times of the day, such as early morning or late evening.

Test the Surface: Before letting your pet walk on any surface, test its temperature by placing the back of your hand on it. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet.

Signs of Burns:
If you notice your pet limping, licking their paws excessively, or showing signs of discomfort, seek veterinary advice to assess for burns.

Leah and Levi - bonded 2 year-old siblings

Hello, I'm Leah. I'm a little shy, but once I get to know you, I promise I'll be the sweetest companion. I adore being petted and brushed, it makes me purr with contentment. My favorite game? Chasing the elusive red dot from a laser pointer, it's always just out of reach! My brother Levi and I are inseparable. We've been together through thick and thin, and we'd love to find a home where we can stay together. Adopting me isn't just about giving a cat a home, it's about bringing a pair of loving souls into your life. We promise to fill your days with love, joy, and plenty of purrs.

Hello, I'm Levi. I'm a little shy but oh-so-sweet once I get to know you. I share a special bond with my sister, Leah. We've been through a lot together and it's made us inseparable. We love to chase lasers, it's our favorite game. When we're not playing, we enjoy quiet moments of cuddling and purring. I promise, we'll fill your home with love and laughter. Adopting us means gaining two loyal companions who will always be there for you. So, why wait? Open your heart and home to us, and we'll show you what true feline love is all about.
