Lots of questions about raccoons!

How are they as pets?
Raccoons have a mind of their own meaning one day you can be the light of their life the next day they do not want to be in the same room as you.
Raccoons bite and scratch and more times than not their scratch is an accident therefore homes with small children should really consider this before bringing a raccoon into your home. They can climb they can ran they can be a couch potato! They need attention for bonding they CAN be potty trained BUT this is not a guarantee! Raccoons do not “wash” their food, raccoons sense/ touch things better in water and get a better understanding of what’s in their paws through water. We HIGHLY recommend having your raccoon fixed to help subside hormone (breeding behavior/ aggression). If you bring an illegal animal home this means NO vet will see your animal , your animal can be taken away and put down.

Raccoons diet consist of low fat dog food, boiled chicken , fish, scrambled or raw eggs grapes as snacks , nuts and apples. Babies do come home on bottles so ensure someone is around to bottle feed. Every single raccoon is different and will react different in each and everyone’s homes! They are a blast and can be extremely loving BUT they can have bad days so ensure you are committed and ready to love them through thick and thin.

REMINDERS: ensure you do your research, this includes care for the animal, permits for the animals, vets for the animals and most importantly living/ life style for the animals. If these animals are not legal in your state no vet will see them and you can risk them being taken away! If your family is not on board this can cause for rehoming the animal back to us!

Understand what you are getting yourself into these are NOT average cats and dogs and should not be put in the same category as them! Seeing 2 minute cute videos online does not justify the reality of owning an exotic animal. Please ask questions if you cannot find the information you’re looking for, check your state laws before placing a deposit (they are non refundable and you’ll be giving away money). -

Please ensure you have a vet!
Please ensure your household is on board.
Lemurs nor any primate should go to home with small children!
Please do your research these animals can live up to 35 years in captivity! Lemurs bond with their troop so keep that in mind if you have people over often!
