Veterinary Technician/Assistant
Must have experience. Must be available to work Full-time.
Trailside Animal Hospital opened in the fall 2019 and is seeing tremendous growth. Our hospital offers state-of-the-art equipment which allows us to offer our clients the BEST in veterinary services. We are looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our team and help provide our pet patients and their family’s exceptional care.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Working directly with our veterinarians during exams and procedures
• Answering phones and client questions
• Safely handling and restraining animals of all sizes.
• Triaging over the phone to make best use of appointment time.
• Maintain email and text communications in a professional and timely manner
• Assist with checking in and checking out clients and patients for their appointments
• Filling prescriptions
• Selling retail items and maintaining retail inventory
• Providing excellent customer and patient service
• Assist with start of day and end of day opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with general cleaning of work area and hospital throughout the day
• Taking medical history from clients
• Conducting vitals and initial exams upon patient arrival
• Venipuncture for in-house and reference lab testing
• Clean and sanitize kennels and exam rooms for pets while in the hospital and after discharge
• Maintain patient records and client management software (Cornerstone)
• Perform check-up calls with patients and giving progress reports
• Completing departmental housekeeping duties (i.e. laundry, sweeping, mopping)
• Operating equipment for diagnostics (x-ray, dental procedures, anesthesia, other lab equipment)
• Feeding, exercising, medicating, and cleaning of hospitalized and boarded patients multiple times a day.
• Bathing and basic grooming care of patients
• Regular attendance and timeliness are an essential function in order to fulfill the requirements of this position

COMPENSATION
• $14-17 per hour
• 35-40 hours per week
• You will get 1 day off during regular Mon-Fri work week
• Will be required to work rotating weekends and holidays

QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma
• Physically able to safely lift 50lbs, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, stand, walk and use step stools when necessary
• Effectively communicate with team and clients in a professional manner at all times.
• A team player who is willing to pitch in where needed
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Calm demeanor and good in high stress situations
• Capable and competent in operating diagnostic equipment (x-rays, anesthesia, lab equipment, etc.)
• Experience with Cornerstone software, diagnostic equipment, dental procedures, lab equipment, and anesthesia a plus
• Energetic and enthusiastic personality
• Eager to learn with a teachable spirit
• Nurturing and compassionate attitude
• Reliability is a MUST
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will involve exposure to hazards such as, but not limited to, aggressive animals, aggressive clients, infectious disease (some may be zoonotic), controlled substances, toxic substances, unpleasant odors and loud noises, animal bites, wet floors, deceased animals, and animal waste. This facility will follow state and federal animal health laws and regulations including OSHA and DEA. This facility will also follow state and federal guideline for patient and client privacy.
