(GCOC) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1968 to promote the sport of dog obedience. GCOC is an all-volunteer organization made up of local dog sport enthusiasts. The club is sanctioned by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to hold obedience, rally, and agility trials in the area. Part of our mission includes public education about training and competition dog sports. We subscribe to the the

ory that a trained dog is a happy dog. The club encourages and promotes positive reinforcement and reward-based training methods.

If you have a puppy or know someone who does, Gayle Mitchiner and Jennifer Wheeler would love to see you in their fall Sunday afternoon Puppy K class! 🐶 Gayle and Jennifer are bona fide puppy whisperers and their classes receive rave reviews.

What happens in class? Jennifer explains: “We focus on teaching required skills for AKC’s S.T.A.R. Puppy program, safety skills, and focus and engagement. We also set up a mini canine confidence course each week for students to explore before and after class. There’s a sit/down/stay competition (with prizes!) during the final class, and ribbons for all S.T.A.R. Puppy grads. We focus on helping humans develop a terrific relationship with their pups and understand how to raise a puppy that can happily and safely exist in the human world. Setup for our puppy class that started today! If you have a new puppy, be sure to catch the next class when it comes out. It fills FAST!! If you aren't sure what class you should join, feel free to reach out and one of us will be able to steer you in the right direction 😊
