🫶🐾 JAKE 🐾🫶

This very good boy is looking for his forever home! Jake is a 2 year old chi mix who’s scheduled to arrive in MD on January 11. He can be a bit shy and reserved at first but his foster said he warms up quickly and becomes a snuggle bug (see pics 2 and 3!) Jake adores the company of other dogs but is just as happy to be with his people. He’s making great progress on his manners and house training to make sure he’s ready for his forever family.

🚨FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED🚨

SWEET BEAR, a border collie lab 🐕‍🦺 mix, arrived in MD over the weekend but isn’t a fit for his current home. He’s 12 weeks old and about 20 lbs, so he’ll be a medium to large dog when he’s fully grown 🐾 He’s still a puppy so he’d be best in a home where his family has someone home most of the day. Other than that he is a typical puppy and sure to grow into a great dog.

It’s hard work being this cute 🥰

Sweet little Noel is loving life outside the shelter. We don’t know what happened to her before she came to us, but knowing this sweet girl was all alone so young makes us even more grateful that we were able to help her with the support from our community. Noel will be ready for adoption in a couple weeks, but we will definitely be sharing pics of her before then!

🚨🚨 MEET RIVER and PUNKIN 🚨🚨

River and Punkin are two adorable pups looking for forever homes in the DMV!

🌊 RIVER 🌊 is a 7 month old Australian Kelpie mix. At a petite 35lbs she's a bit shy at first, but once she warms up to people she shows how deeply she adores her people. She is SUPER smart, walks well on her leash, and has already started learning her basic manners. She shows great potential for agility training, but could also be a good copilot-adventure buddy-couch potato.

🎃 PUNKIN 🎃 is an adorable 1 year old blue pittie mix looking for a happily ever after. Punkin hasn't had the best start in life. In her one year of life, she's had at least one litter of puppies and was abandoned by a truly cruel human being who left her hanging upside down from a fence with a rope tied around her waist/leg. Unfortunately her critical injuries required her leg to be amputated, but despite all of that, she remains a sweet and joyful lovebug who's acclimating to the tripaw'd life very well!

Both of these special dogs will be an excellent addition to anyone's life - apply to adopt them today!

We aren’t going to sugarcoat it: it’s tough to be in rescue right now. With shelters bursting at the seams across the country and donations at historic lows, rescues like AWSHC are struggling to continue our mission. With donations from our generous community, we’ll be able to continue finding well deserving cats, dogs and other animals loving homes.

Little Bear is still looking for his forever home.

Little Bear’s owner has cancer and he needed a new home this Thanksgiving. His foster family thinks he is the cutest little guy. He would do best in a quiet home with adults only. He is 10 years old, neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is housetrained. He prefers nothing more than hanging out with his favorite person.

🚨 Sweet Ziri needs a temporary foster from November 30th-December 13th! 🚨

Z is recovering from his surgery and needs a place to stay for a couple weeks while his current foster travels. At this stage of recovery Z is on crate rest with extremely limited activity to ensure his bones stay set properly.
