Urgent Recall: H5N1 Influenza Contamination in Raw Pet Food

A new health alert has been issued after two cats succumbed to H5N1 influenza following consumption of contaminated raw pet food. The Washington and Oregon Departments of Agriculture identified the issue with Wild Coast LLC Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula, affecting lot numbers 22660 and 22664 with a Best Buy date of 12/25.

Given the broader risk of H5N1 linked to raw poultry products, pet owners are advised to avoid feeding raw diets.

Important FDA Warning: Librela for Dogs

As many of you are aware recently the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning about Librela. While Librela is an effective pain management option for many dogs, the FDA has raised concerns about potential side effects. Some dogs may experience adverse reactions, including but not limited to vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in behavior. Additionally, there have been reports of serious reactions, such as allergic reactions or other health issues, especially in dogs with pre-existing conditions.

We have been careful with our case selection, as well as maintaining open communication about the pros and cons, so that we can be better prepared and avoid any fatal events. So far, we have not seen any fatalities related to Librela, and we hope that this will continue as we proceed with careful monitoring and case selection.
