Our partner, Columbia Animal Shelter, is gearing up for their second annual Chopped for Charity event! Come join us and support a very charitable cause (the kitties 🐱)! Here are the deets:

The Chopped for Charity event aims to raise critical funds for the Columbia Animal Shelter, a non-profit organization that offers a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, an affordable wellness clinic, and vital community outreach programs. Modeled after the popular Food Network show Chopped, this culinary contest challenges participants to create a dish using ingredients from a mystery box. Contestants may also utilize additional items from a shared pantry, but each dish must prominently feature all mystery ingredients.
The true challenge lies in the unexpected combination of mystery ingredients, which often results in unusual or difficult flavor pairings—all to be transformed into a dish within just 30 minutes.
The evening will kick off at 6:00 PM with a buffet dinner, included in the ticket price. Attendees will enjoy stories about Columbia Animal Shelter’s mission, hear about the shelter’s impact, and gain insights from a volunteer’s perspective. Honorees will be recognized before the main culinary competition begins at approximately 7:30 PM.
A panel of four judges will determine the winner. Three judges will be prominent community members, while the fourth judge’s seat will be auctioned off to an attendee. Following the competition, there will be a live auction featuring exclusive experiences, such as farm tours and private in-home dinners with local chefs. (Stay tuned for more details.) Additionally, a fund-a-need paddle auction will take place, explaining how donations directly support the shelter’s ongoing efforts.
The event will conclude with the announcement of the competition winner and closing remarks.
Complimentary soda and water will be provided, while beer and wine will be available for purchase.
