Our Pet of the Month for March is Charlie! 😍 There is so much to say about Charlie because he is a very special boy who had a rough start to life but luckily found such a wonderful family to spend the rest of his life with!
"Charlie had a rough start but has learned to adjust and is thriving in life. At just one year old, Charlie suffered a severe accident that left him with dislocated hips, an eye injury, and multiple skin issues. Recognizing the need for specialized care, his family made the difficult decision to surrender him to Helping Strays. Fortunately, Charlie was placed in a foster home where he received the care and attention he required. His foster family soon fell deeply in love with him and Charlie was ultimately adopted into a loving family.
Today, Charlie lives with his adoptive family, which includes a feline sister, Chessie, and canine sister, Lucy, who also faces mobility challenges. Both Charlie and Lucy participate in weekly water therapy sessions to improve their strength, range of motion, and overall well-being. The bond between Charlie and Lucy is truly special, as they offer each other support and companionship.
Despite his physical limitations, Charlie's spirit remains unbroken. Charlie and Lucy both use a wheelchair but also love rides in their strollers or the wagon. Charlie enjoys various activities, including car rides, watching for strangers out the front window, napping, and traveling. Notably, Charlie has explored 13 states, the Atlantic Ocean, Niagara Falls, and Canada with his family.
Charlie's story is a testament to the power of resilience, love, and adoption. His affectionate, loyal, and loving nature has captured the hearts of everyone around him."
