Our 4th Annual ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Shelby Humane will take place on Dec. 23.

A $10 donation will help treat one pup or cat; $15 treats three!

This year’s event will be hosted by Youth Leader, Parker Verant, an 8th grade student at Oak Mountain Middle School and the Best Friends of Shelby Humane.

In addition to a home cooked holiday meal, pups will receive a new blanket and chew toy, and cats will receive two toys.

We are so very grateful to Petco Love for a $35,000 grant we received last year. We’ve recently completed our project of adding 16 more play yards for our sweet pups! They love getting to spend more time outside playing each day!

“Hello! I just wanted to thank you all for everything that you do for these precious fur babies!

I adopted Lex (new name: Finnie) on September 26,2024🩷

He has been an absolute blessing and joy to for my family and I. He is the sweetest baby ever. He has grown so much since the adoption day! He is currently almost 6 months old and growing super fast.

Finnie loves to play outside, cuddle, eat pup, cups, meet new people, and giving kisses. He is truly the sweetest boy. 🥰

Yesterday's Pet of the Week segment on WBRC 6 News. Microsoft and Ubison (the kittens) did great 😀

Thanks to a grant from Petco Love, we have new fenced areas in our play yard. The first ten are complete with 6 more to come. This has quadrupled the number of spaces we have outside and will allow the dogs to have more outdoor time!

Melissa contacted us to share an update on her adopted dog: “We adopted Barney in June and he is finally settling in! He is the smaller beagle on the right. Copper is his 4 year-old brother, and this is how they greet their dad every day when he gets home from work!” We are thrilled to hear that Barney is doing well and has a new best friend!
