Mad Max first swim.
Max a natural swimmer and retriever.
A nice afternoon on the reservoir.
We found a nice shady spot by the barn. New pup Blaze loves to harass us all. Blaze about 10 or 11 weeks old now. Out of Scharrer’s Freight Train Scout and a daughter out of Pistol Pete. She’s very active, loves the water and retrieved her first bumper from about 20 feet out at the reservoir yesterday.
Finally got the boat squared away. Windy out here today. Sky is hazy from Canada forest fires.
Meet Scharrer’s Freight Train Blaze, our newest member of Grand River Gun Dogs. Sired by Scharrer’s Freight Train Scout UT III out of a daughter of Scharrer’s Pistol Pete. Nice bold outgoing pup typical of Grand River Gun Dogs pups. If she’s like Scout, lookout Pheasants.
Butch’s sister Derby, these pups love to run & jump.
It was about this time last year when Pistol Pete suffered his back injury that left his rear legs paralyzed. He’s had a great recovery and is back to his fun loving happy self.
Near 7 month old Butch, Power Points Hang on Hank x Scharrer’s Freight Train Breezy, starting to get some legs under him and has put on a growth spurt. My bad knee, surgery in a few weeks, has kept me from finishing his training but will get back with it when I heal up. Pointing his birds nice, shot over, and seems to be a natural retriever. Wouldn’t take much to finish him off. He’s still available and looking for the right hunting home family to join.
Butch working his bird pretty good into the wind. Has a nice point before creeping in and bumping the bird. Butch’s third time on birds at 14 weeks old now. Some hunting home could get a good one.
Breezy have some fun with her two remaining male pups.
Two week old Hank x Breezy pups. One more week and they’ll be starting puppy chow. All doing great.
Happy New Years from Grand River Gun Dogs.
Merry Christmas from the gang at Grand River Gun Dogs.
Another hot tough day, we did bag 3 roosters, but lots of hens, and didn’t get any shooting opportunities my self. Went on a mega hike today around a lake with lots of cattails, which seems to be the hiding place for this years birds. This country is so open that what you think is a mile is two to three times that. Back at it tomorrow.
Nice view of Missouri River near where we are hunting.
