We are sad to update that one of the orange babies passed away overnight.💔 There are 2 left from this litter and they are getting treatment as best they can, but they desperately need to be pulled by a rescue and recover in a foster home or at the vet where they can receive around the clock care.

This trio of kittens are in desperate need of a rescue! They came in as strays and are too sick to be adopted out. 💔
Come see our kitties! If they are still on stray hold you can still come meet them and put your name on them for adoption for when they become available! All adoptions come with a mandatory spay/neuter voucher if they aren’t already fixed! They will also receive age appropriate vaccines and a microchip!

‼️URGENT‼️This sweet baby came in yesterday and we are begging for a rescue to step in and pull to get him the help he needs. We will post a video in the comments as well but he’s not able to stand or walk on his back legs and is just dragging them. The part-time vet has not seen him yet to examine. We just got word that Columbus Purrs n Paws rescued over 30 cats from Columbus Animal Care & Control Center yesterday, clearing TEN kennels! Holy MOLY. Thank you SO much to everyone who had a hand in this. The cat room has been so stressful lately without any empty kennels. This is HUGE!

This sibling trio has been here for 2 whole months! They are the sweetest kittens that are growing up in a cage waiting on someone to come adopt them! If you can help by adopting, come up to the shelter ASAP. If you can’t adopt but can help by temporarily opening your home to a dog or can, it will LITERALLY save their life. You can message Paws Humane Society, PCS Pups, Animal SOS, or Animal Ark Rescue to get signed up. If your pet is up here, please come pick them up before 5pm to save a life!

RISE AND SHINE! This little nugget wants you to come by and spend some of your Saturday at Columbus Animal Care & Control Center! There’s lot of babies in the cat room that could use some loving while they are with us - just please remember to sanitize in between touching those not being housed together to be safe!
There are also plenty of new adoptable faces waiting on homes too!
‼️ URGENT ‼️ OUR CAT ROOM IS OFFICIALLY AT MAX CAT-PACITY!! These pictured here are the only kittens old enough to be adopted, and there are close to 60 here with us right now.
- If you can foster, please reach out to a local rescue and let them know you are available!
- If you’re looking to adopt - fostering a kitten is a great way to start a bond before commiting to a feline and most of our local rescues provide all supplies and vet care until they are ready for adoption!
- If you can’t foster or adopt - the work is never done with this many kittens, so we would love some help feeding/cleaning and caring for these babies while they are with us temporarily! Come by and sign up to volunteer!

We’ve had an influx of kittens come in and we need rescue help immediately! Lots of these babies are too young to eat on their own and the shelter is not a place for kittens to be able to thrive but ESPECIALLY ones that are unweaned and/or have a weakened immune system. If you can foster for a local rescue to be able to help, please contact them and ask for kittens!
**One of the urgent litters is a set of orphaned neonates who’s mom has been hit by a car.
Volunteers - if you have experience bottle feeding, please come to the shelter before 5pm to help!
🐾🐱Don't Kitten Nap!🐾🐱
Kitten season is the prime breeding time for cats who haven't been spayed or neutered. Members of the community want to know how they can help, follow this flow chart to see what is best for outdoor kittens!
🐾Keep an eye on outdoor kittens but don't move them unless they are sick, injured, or have been abandoned by their mothers—or if they're in a location presenting special hazards, like an unsafe area of a construction site, or too close to a busy road. Removing kittens before they are weaned puts their little lives in danger!
🐾Once outdoor kittens are about 12 weeks old or at least 3 pounds, they can be spayed or neutered and vaccinated!
🐾Provide food and water for the mother, and shelter for the family. Mom cat should be spayed, too, after her kittens are weaned. Otherwise, she’ll likely have another litter of kittens in a few months. Our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program can help!
🐾Members of the public in Muscogee County can use our TNR program to get the family fixed. With a valid drivers license from Muscogee County, we can issue a free spay/neuter voucher that includes vaccines for outdoor/feral cats. The biggest impact you can have on kitten season is to make sure the cats in your neighborhood are spayed and neutered before they have kittens.
Our Community Cat Program is here to help! Stop by the adoptions desk with a valid Muscogee County ID to rent a trap and pick up a TNR voucher to help keep the cat population under control! A community cat is an unowned, stray or feral, outdoor free-roaming cat.
Did you know that it is unlawful for any person knowingly to prevent, interfere with, or obstruct the management of an identified community cat colony within Columbus?
There are community cat caregivers that dedicate their time, money and resources to help take care of these colonies. They feed regularly and participate in TNR programs to safely, trap, spay/neuter, vaccinate and release these cats back to their outdoor homes.

Thank you Animal SOS for getting this sweet cat, “Marge”, immediate medical care so she didn’t have to stay at CACC to worsen. Please consider donating towards her care if you can. She is already receiving antibiotics and pain medication, and will need to be sedated tomorrow so they can perform a thorough exam on her to see the full extent of her injuries.
She will still need rescue commitment but is currently receiving treatment thanks to Animal SOS!

Cats with microchips are 20 times more likely to be reunited with their owner if lost 🙀 BUT only if they are registered with correct owner information, so check your cat’s microchip! If your cat isn’t microchipped, consider having it done asap! It’s a quick and simple procedure 🐾

The entire lily plant — leaf, flower, and pollen — is poisonous to cats! Even if they just lick a few pollen grains off their coats or eat a couple of leaves, cats can suffer acute kidney failure within a very short period of time!
