Anyone who would like to attend the August 10-11 HEA let me know as soon as possible!
CMH Equestrian (part of Churchill Equestrian) is a hunter/jumper show program located in central Ohio. Located within the 270 loop!
We offer beginner to advanced riding lessons & experienced care for boarded horses.
Anyone who would like to attend the August 10-11 HEA let me know as soon as possible!
Just a few reminders!
Please enter the property from the driveway near our sign, NOT by the house.
Parents watching lessons in the outdoor, please observe from the side by the pastures, NOT the back yard of the house.
Also please keep in mind, as the parking lot gets full, if you need to park somewhere besides right by the entrance to the barn, the overflow should be towards the indoor arena, NOT towards the house.
Our landlords are wonderful people but they’d like to keep the barn business at the barn, not their personal space.
The always amazing Roo took Ayelet on her first trail ride where she wasn’t lead by a ground person
Exciting news! I will be able to offer lessons on Saturdays after 3PM for anyone who is struggling to make a weekday work!
It’s a beautiful day for working in the jump field
I’m just going to post this screen shot of something I posted over a year ago because
I’m seeing it again.
IT IS NEVER OK TO PUT YOURSELF IN A POSITION WHERE YOU CANNOT MOVE AWAY QUICKLY IF YOUR 1000lbs ANIMAL JUMPS TOWARDS YOU.
I wouldn’t sit down or lay down next to Widget and she’s by far the safest in the barn.
Don’t do it. Just don’t.
Attention All Clients!
I spent time today cleaning up my invoices. I deleted over $2000 worth of unpaid invoices from the old barn so I can start fresh with the move.
What really bothers me is $1000+ of those were from current clients who still board and lesson with me. Consider this your gift.
Since the move, I have been billing weekly and I spend an unreasonable amount of time chasing down payments. I have $876 of overdue invoices since we moved. We have only been here 2 months and I downsized quite a bit. I cannot continue to do this.
I will be billing for lessons monthly. Lessons that are not part of a monthly lesson package will be $10 more per lesson.
Everyone will pay for either 2 lessons (bi weekly riders) or 4 lessons a month. If your lessons fall on a day of the week where you get 3 or 5 lessons, congratulations you get a free lesson. NO MAKEUPS WILL BE GIVEN unless I cancel for a show or weather.
If you don't pay, you don't ride. After a 4 day grace period there will be a 10% late fee applied.
I woke up to a bunch of calls from the police this morning. Horses got loose at the show overnight. They are not my horses, so if yours are missing they’re in barn 13.
Please don’t remove the mounting blocks from the arenas. If you want to ride outdoors and not in a ring you can mount in the outdoor and ride out, ask for a leg up, or use the arena fence.
It’s very annoying to have to go hunting for mounting blocks and we’ve had to do it multiple times since moving here.
PLEASE TURN OFF HOSES AFTER YOU USE THEM! The retractable hoses weren’t cheap and I find spigots left on for hours or over night every day.
The trails will be closed tomorrow, Friday 6/21. There is a company coming in to trim trees, make them wider in some areas, and in general just clean them up a bit!
It’s hot. And it’s going to be hot all week.
For those who have been around for a while you know I don’t handle heat well. I’d like to move to Alaska but I’d miss you all too much.
Horses also don’t handle heat well. If the temperature plus humidity is below 140 we will have lessons as usual. If the temperature plus humidity is between 140-150 we will have mounted lessons but will modify them. We may do horse jeopardy, go for a trail ride, do a ba****ck lesson, etc. If temperatures are above 150 you have the option for an unmounted lesson. No make ups will be given if you chose not to attend for an unmounted lesson.
PLEASE BRING WATER TO YOUR LESSON! And if anyone is over heating we do have an air conditioned room you can cool off in.
Stay safe everyone!
Another beautiful saddle from Devoucoux! Hopefully Rye likes it as much as we do!
Hey everyone! This Saturday I am taking my first day off to have fun in multiple years.
Emily will be handling the AM chores, and Vicky and Kelly will be here most of the day if anyone needs anything. Feel free to message me but I will not be responding unless it’s a true emergency.
In order to keep things running smoothly while I’m gone, I’d like to remind everyone of some barn rules. These don’t just apply to this weekend but at all times.
1. The barn closes at 9:00PM. Please be in your cars pulling out at this time. If you need to be at the barn before 8:00AM please let me know
2. Trail riders must take a cell phone
3. If you open it, close it. If you turn it on, turn it off.
4. Don’t borrow or use someone else’s things without asking
5. The instructors insured by the CEC/CMH programs are the only ones allowed to teach. Please be careful with giving help or advice to others. If something goes wrong it can effect my business and you could be held liable.
6. Do not feed any horse but your own. Do not take extra grain or hay without asking. Do not take extra bedding without asking.
7. Minors may NOT jump outside of lessons unless I am on property, and give permission
8. Helmets must be worn when mounted
10. Lessons get the right of way in the arena
11. No bullying, no “cliquey” or exclusionary behavior. No judging, no bigotry, no hate. Everyone has different goals with their riding and it is no one’s place to make any rider feel less than another, or like their goals aren’t important
Boarders and clients!
Starting tomorrow field 1 will be closed until further notice to allow for some pasture maintenance (mowing and fertilizing). Horses will still be getting daily turn out just on a slightly different schedule.
Widget wants to wish everyone a Happy Pride Month! And remind everyone that we accept everyone here
Ayelet has been wanting to learn to canter since fall. Today seemed like a good day to try. Widget got 2 peppermints from Ayelet for her cooperation
Having a small ring means getting creative with jumping exercises. Molly did a great job with Tommy today
Molly and Dunkin were the first lesson in the outdoor with our new footing!
It’s early to be planning but I’m expecting the June HEA show to be a big one for us. So for planning purposes if you’re planning on going please let me know ASAP! Thank you!
Smallest group I’ve taken to a show in a long while. I only took 4 horses and five riders, and they still blew it out of the park!
Special congratulations to:
Jasper and Maeve for their Champion in Crossrails eq, reserve champion in Crossrails hunters, and fifth in the Crossrails classic.
Emily and Tommy for their champions in the Very Low Hunters and Limit Eq.
Ashton and Bourbon for their first in the TIP Jumper Classic and reserve champion in the TIP Very Green Hunters
Ayelet and Tommy for their reserve champion in the Walk/Trot Ground Poles, and fourth in the Poles Classic.
After 6 weeks off due to a fractured tooth, Cal is back in action and enjoying the trails!
Boarders and those who help around the barn! Please make sure you dump any muck buckets you fill. We have carts, the gator, and trucks you can use so you don’t have to carry them. I am trying to keep the barn neat and bugs to a minimum.
Dr. McPherson is coming on 5/30 at 11:30 to do spring vaccinations and update coggins. Reminder that even though we are no longer obligated by the city to keep vet care current, we still require it from all our boarders.
Please make sure you have payment on file with her BEFORE she comes. If you do not and I end up covering your costs there will be a 15% “I shouldn’t have to do this” charge added to your invoice from me. You can call her office and leave a card on file, you can leave a check here, or you can be present for the appointment and pay her directly.
Please make sure all trash ends up in the trash can and aisles your personal items are neatly put away. Do not leave treats out in an unsecured container. If your items don’t fit inside your tack trunk please take them home
I’m just going to leave this here.
The sign instructing you to clean, and the shovel/bucket to clean the p**p are all within arms reachh of each other. There is no excuse for this
First lessons at the new barn went fantastic! Jaden asked to explore the trails and Allie did fantastic in the outdoor even though our new footing isn’t here yet
Please keep in mind that we are a private business. Current clients are allowed to come anytime during business hours.
However, if you are not a current client please make an appointment to stop by.
Thank you!
We probably shouldn’t have shown this weekend because it was the weekend after the move. But we did. And it was fantastic!
Special congratulations to:
Emily and Tommy for their champion in the 2’ hunters, reserve champion in the 2’ eq, and they even tried the jumpers for fun, placing in both trips.
Molly and Dunkin for their champion in the 18” hunters and reserve champion in the 18” equitation.
Ashton and Bourbon for their champion in the 2’3” jumpers.
Chase and Ducky for their reserve champion in the bridle path hack.
Baby V and Kelly for winning their three in hand classes.
And Kayley who started working with a new project pony, Fox, just a few weeks ago and piloted her very well through her first horse show experience.
Everyone worked so hard and gave 100% effort.

We strive to create riders who aren’t just passengers. Anyone can ride a made horse, but the ability to bring along a green horse is a dying art. Chase still has some show seasons left on his pony Ducky, but he’s been working extremely hard to get his green OTTB, Rye ready to step in the show ring as well.
Ayelet and Tommy are gearing up for the mini stirrup classes next show.
Proud of this rider for overcoming a huge mental block and getting on a “spicy” tb today and having a fantastic ride!
Big thanks to Emily who is loaning us Moose2 (cause we already had a Moose). Less than a week in and he’s been such a rockstar
95% of a jump course is flat work, so today we did a fun exercise in which the kids rode 1/2 of the Intro B dressage test, exited the ring, jumped two fences, then went back into the ring to finish the test.
It doesn’t matter that his future is going to be as a fancy hunter/jumper, as a baby horse he’s going to learn all sorts of skills! Nigel had no qualms about tackling the bridge with a rider.
It’s so nice to have our big guy, Cal, back at it. We’re keeping his lesson load light as we build his fitness back up, but he’s feeling great!
Here’s your daily dose of adorable. Ayelet is over being a lead line rider and is working very hard to do some mini stirrup at the July show. Theo is super happy to help her accomplish her goal.
Now that he’s going around so well, and the official decision was made to keep him, so I guess it’s time to introduce the newest lesson horse at CMH/CEC, Kiwi! Kiwi’s name is actually Hawk but it was decided early on that he’s not little, he’s Kiwi Sized, and the nickname stuck. He’s been around since last summer, and is Muffin’s half brother from Assateague Island, they’re our little wild island ponies, but he’s just now hitting his stride and starting to be used in lessons. Molly gave him a FANTASTIC ride yesterday, and he tried so hard for her
