We are accepting donations for Faithful Forgotten Best Friends. This is a small non profit organization that helps the homeless population and their pets. Some items they would appreciate are:
Things needed that they use/hand out often (in order of priority) that they could see being easy for people to donate to a drive:
1. Dog and cat food - they primarily stock kibble. But when they get canned cat food that’s always a plus
2. Dog collars and leashes
3. Treats to help with fear free approach during exams - jar chicken baby food, churro cat squeeze treats, the soft bil jac treats, the bacon strips etc.
4. They get requests for cat littler a lot, but it’s not something they focus on using our limited resources to stock
They often get clothing donations and also hand out to their clients (typically used, donated clothes). Things that are often helpful in the homeless community:
1. Socks and underwear (new)
2. gloves, hats, boots/shoes, coats
3. Hygiene items
We are accepting donations on behalf of Faithful Forgotten Best Friends. This is for unhoused people or low income people@and their pets who are in need of help for their pets and themselves. #donations #homelesspets #homelesspeople
Low stress handling is important for any vet visit! Phoebe is being a purrfect patient for her blood draw while eating some cheese in a kitty towel burrito.
This video shows Clover the Welsh Terrier exhibiting a behavior we sometimes refer to as barbering. It can look different in different dogs and can include nibbling and licking. Cats also barber, especially on their bellies. There are a variety of reasons for this behavior: allergies, pain, and anxiety are common ones. It should be addressed as it can create skin damage and further irritate the underlying issues.

For Senior Pet Month we're highlighting some issues we may see with older pets. Clover was the star of some previous videos this month, and she's made a comeback! In the last pair of videos we showed some behavioral changes we can see during walks in pets with Cognitive Dysfunction. There are a variety of reasons why dogs or cats may show a burying behavior with food, but Clover's behavior changes around eating correlated with her other changes and this is one example of compulsive behavior charges we can see with Seniors.

Clover’s Walk—Part 2 video….
Since September is Senior Pet Month, we wanted to highlight a condition that we can see with older pets. These videos show Clover, a Welsh Terrier, getting a bit confused before starting a walk. Her owner carried her down the road just a bit then she regained her composure and had a normal, happy walk! Confusion can be a sign of Canine Cognitive Dysfuntion, and we have a variety of things we can do to support dogs (and cats - they can get cognitive dysfunction too!) with this condition. Stay tuned on our page for things that can help, or give us a call at (614)888-2100! You can also search DISHAA on the web to learn more about common symptoms.
