Starting off the new year with new arrivals, Fallow Deer 🥳🥳🥳 Follows range throughout europe but have been established in the U.S. for decades and are a favorite to keep & breed on ranches throughout Texas. These can be chocolate brown, white, or spotted, and the females give birth to a single baby once annually. They are very shy and will take time to get used to visitors, but soon they will be eating from your hand. 🥰

Check out R2 doing his birthday moves. He's so excited he made it to his 10th birthday and even more excited for 60 more🥳 The Galah, also known as the Rose Breasted Cockatoo, is an Australian species of cockatoo. The Galah is adapted to a wide variety of modified and unmodified habitats and is one of Australia's most abundant and widespread bird species and is endemic to mainland Australia. It was introduced to Tasmania in the mid-19th century, where it is now widespread and much more recently to New Zealand. Showing off for visitors all weekend 10am -5pm, come on out and meet the parrots we have several species and over 100 exhibits now open.

We absolutely love it when the zoo residents become parents and in this case it took 3 pairs of adult green iguanas to produce this motherload of hatchlings. Greens, reds and albinos we’ll keep a few and the rest will head to other facilities whose owners share our passion for reptiles. It never gets old🥰 Columbuszootexas.com

Baby giants🥰 We’re opening the ostrich nursery this weekend starting on Friday where visitors can feed and touch the largest species of bird on earth. This is a rare and very unique experience so have those cameras ready you’ll want to capture the moment it’s very entertaining to say the least🤗

One of our dinosaurs on patrol this morning in his quest for some tasty snacks. This is a cassowary and like humans this beauty is an omnivore feeding on fruit, some veggies and small animals such as rodents,small birds, small reptiles etc. Come on by and see up close the scale covered legs and feet and you’ll see why these impressive creatures are often considered modern day velociraptors 😍

We are looking for trainees to join our small zoo crew. Must have reliable transportation, a strong work ethic and love animals.
