Meet Bonnie!
Bonnie is a young adult kitty who got outside and went missing for two days. When she came back home, she was severely injured, unable to close her mouth due to a jaw fracture, which was suspected to be caused by a dog attack. She had multiple puncture wounds, and despite her infection and injuries, was in good spirits.
We hospitalized Bonnie and placed a feeding tube, since she was unable to eat on her own. Once her infection was managed, we needed to figure out how to stabilize her jaw fracture. Dr. Stacia consulted with a veterinary dentist, and learned about a procedure where buttons and suture are used to wire the jaw in the proper position and left in place to allow the bone to heal. It was decided that this was the perfect solution to her type of fracture, which allowed for stabilization while being minimally invasive, cost-effective, and allowing her wounds to continue to heal.
After almost 6 weeks, Bonnie’s buttons were removed, and she healed beautifully! As soon as her buttons and feeding tube were removed, she immediately ate a tube of Churu and got caught up on her grooming! She is now reunited with her family and doing great!
We love Bonnie Buttons and are so grateful for the opportunity to learn together and have a great outcome for her!
