Update on Gretel:

She had a meet and greet yesterday afternoon and it went great. With that said, Gretel has a new home. Thank you for everybody sharing and passing this on. And thank you for those of you that showed some interest in her.

This is Gretel. She’s a 1 year old German shepherd that recently went through training with us. The owners are looking to re-home her. Gretel is a good girl, and is very gentle, but for some reason the child in the house is terrified of her. We don’t know why, mom says Gretel wants to play with her and she’s not overly rambunctious, but her daughter just panics. If you or anybody you know is looking for a new pet, this would be a good one. Please call or text us if there’s any interest and I’ll get you in contact with the owner. Thanks

I’m reluctant to post this with this weather coming in, but if you do not have a warm place for your outdoor pets over the next week or so, please let us help you. All we need is vaccination records, they need to be updated and all shot administered at least 7 days prior to drop off (if they have lapsed). Call or text me with any questions. I’m currently at 70% capacity now. 662-328-8877 I’ll have the phone on me 8-6 this week. And 8-12 on Saturday. Office hours for drop off/pick ups are 8-10,4-6 m-f, 8-12 sat.

Effective immediately: during the summer months, June, July, and august, Swan kennels will no longer board “pug nose” dogs. The following are to include but not limited to: English bulldogs, French bulldogs, and pugs. I don’t think I have to tell you why, but for those that don’t understand, IT IS HOT! Add humidity and it makes it that much HOTTER! Any “pug nose” dog already has enough problems trying to breathe normally anyways without the added stress of heat and humidity.

If you feel the need to board your “pug nose” dog here during the midst of the heat, you will be required to sign a waiver stating that Swan kennels will not be held reliable for any heat related issues with your pet during their stay. This is not up for discussion and there will be NO excuses situations.

We have evaporating cooling fans, exhaust fans, squirrel cage fans, and the roof misting system. I am doing all I can do to make these pups as comfortable as possible, I can assure you of that. All long nose dogs are doing just fine with minimal hassling. Small breed dogs are doing just fine. I have kept a very close eye on everybody.

Any comments negative or positive are welcomed, but before you comment please understand 1 important thing. We are dedicated to keeping your pets safe and happy as can be during their stay here!! Sometimes helping keep them happy, healthy, and safe means vetting certain breeds during certain times of the year. I hate to do it, but I refuse to lose a pup on my watch.

Good morning everyone.

Spring break is right around the corner. If you’re making plans for a spring trip after this rainy winter, don’t hesitate to get on the books. Please make sure your pets vaccinations are updated and that we have a copy for their file.

Also, this year we will be closing to observe Easter. Rather than closing on Good Friday, we will close Saturday 4/8/23 and will reopen Monday 4/10/23 at regular business hours. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, that’s why I’m letting you know ahead of time.

As always, thanks for allowing us to care for your pets in your absence!

We do have very limited kennels available for the Christmas holiday. Don’t wait because we are getting calls everyday! We’d hate to miss y’all due to being full.

Holiday hours are 12/23/22 8-12.

Hey folks, I know most of you through using the kennel and y’all are not the ones that need to hear this. But for the others, as you know it’s cold outside! I promise you, you’re pets are cold if they’re outside pets. Please make sure they have the proper shelter to get in and away from the 30 degree nights. If you don’t, please call us and let us help you get them warm. Hope everybody has a wonderful thanksgiving!

Just a friendly reminder, thanksgiving is 2 1/2 weeks away and we have very limited availability. Also we can not make reservations without updated shot records. So please have those available and ready to be emailed.

Office hours for the thanksgiving holiday will be:
Wednesday the 23rd 8-12
Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th closed
Saturday the 26th 8-12.

For those that saw our post yesterday about our guest, here he is! Buddy himself!!!! This dog is an absolute pleasure. And for all that he’s been through, he still loves everybody and doesn’t meet a stranger. Dr. Swanson has done an amazing job with this boy.
