Just like people, pets' cold tolerance can vary from pet to pet based on their coat, body fat stores, activity level, and health. Be aware of your pet's tolerance for cold weather, and adjust accordingly. You will probably need to shorten your dog's walks in very cold weather to protect you both from weather-associated health risks. Arthritic and elderly pets may have more difficulty walking on snow and ice and may be more prone to slipping and falling.

As of tonight, we will still be open our normal business hours tomorrow, Fri, Jan 10. We will send out one more update around 6am in the morning to see how the night went.

Your BFAH staff are sticking it out as long as we can!! We are going to wait a little longer to make a final decision on our office hours for tomorrow!

We will make our decision on our hours for tomorrow after our staff is finished with our Veterinary CPR training class that ends at 8:00pm CST tonight!

Animal shelters report a spike in stray pet intakes on January 1st, as frightened pets often escape their homes or yards during New Year’s Eve fireworks. In some areas, shelters see a 30%-50% increase in lost pet reports after New Year’s Eve compared to regular days.

Be prepared and give us a call tomorrow morning if you think your pet could benefit from a medication to ease the anxiety caused by fireworks!
