The January 2025 AKC Agility Trial is in the books. I wanted to share a text I received from our judge Lorelei Purdy from Minnesota.

“Just landed at 9:00 pm. Half hour drive home and my day is complete. Thank you again for asking me to judge it was a pleasure working with your club and everyone else who volunteered their time. “

I echo her sentiments. I cannot possibly thank everyone involved but I’ll take a stab at the risk of overlooking someone.

1) The owners of Agility and Rally for Fun (Lisa, Linda, Bonita, Barb and Diane).
Especially Bonita who arrived early and shoveled sidewalks in addition to running dogs and working the ring.
2) Sara Deakin for putting the building back together after the trial, running two dogs and working in the ring.
3) Crystal King for handling all the food along with Nida. Also for working the ring.
4) Karen Esposito for making sure we had enough ribbons.
5) David Hirsch - AKC Rep for answering lots of questions and working the ring.
6) Ron McClelland- chief course builder who kept everything moving from class to class.
7) Casey Roman - Volunteer Coordinator for getting volunteers in place to work the Ring and keep the trial moving.
8- Glenn Rawsky trial secretary extraordinaire who had to work under duress when Rebecca Smith had emergency surgery Thursday. She was able to recover and attend the trial on Sunday.
9) Thursday night 9:30 pm set up crew who set up the building in less than 40 minutes.
10) Tim Pinerri - VMO
11) Julie Ashley - parking logistics and coordination.
12) each and every person who jumped into to scribe, time, gate, leash run, bar set, and course build.
13) Vendors Marci Wright and Mike Lifer for providing their services.
14) everyone who donated to the Linscott Dog care fund. It’s not too late. Contact Crystal King to donate.

It was an emotional weekend when we found out that one of the original ARF owners Cherry Shain had passed away Thursday night.

But she would have wanted us to continue the agility trial. It was a sport she enjoyed participating in with her shelties as well as teaching others.

I leave you with my sincere thanks and a picture of my Icelandic Sheepdog puppy in training.

Next agility trial is scheduled for April 4-6, 2025.
