This girl, Goose, came in for her final puppy shots after a pretty extensive stay in our parvo ward several weeks ago. Goose was one of our parvo survivors who received the new canine parvo antibody treatment. It is the first treatment that will actually treat the virus, and pups start to feel better very quickly. Our doctors are convinced this girl would NOT have survived without it. Brent gets the picture with her today as he took care of her for the majority of her treatment. Look at their smiles! 😀😀

**Case Spotlight**

Meet Mrs. Mazie. She came in for a second opinion on her severe vomiting and diarrhea when she was a puppy. She was adopted from a shelter and within a few days became very ill. She presented a lot like parvo; however, her test never came up positive on several attempts. Dr. Foster decided to send out a canine distemper panel while treating her as she was very very sick at this point. Her results came back POSITIVE for canine distemper. Distemper is 95% fatal so we weren’t sure how Mazie was going to end up, but boy did she and Dr. Foster put up a big fight. She battled and won. She was old enough to be spayed yesterday and her surgery went well.

A little information on canine distemper: Typically, pets will come to the clinic with respiratory or neurological issues; however, a more rare form is the gastrointestinal form which is exactly what Mazie had. Vaccines will 100% prevent this awful disease. It was touch and go for a bit, but she made a remarkable recovery. We were so happy to see her wagging tail yesterday. ❤️❤️

We had a little visit from the bestest girl today, Turtle (formerly known as Panko). Can you believe she is old enough to be spayed?!?! She is definitely thriving in her new home. ❤️❤️

Starting tomorrow, we will be temporarily closing daily from the hours of 12:30 - 1:15 p.m. so our front staff is able to get a proper lunch break. Once our new staff is trained properly, we will reopen during these hours. Thanks for your patience!
