Future Leader Dog My wife and I raise puppies for Leader Dogs for Blind. We hope you enjoy watching our puppies grow up before heading back for Guide Dog training.

My wife, Mary, and I raise Puppies for Rochester, Michigan based Leader Dogs for the Blind. We get a puppy at about 7 weeks of age and provide at least a year of daily care, training, as well as socializing the puppy by taking it most everywhere we go. During our puppy's first year we do all we can to provide our puppy with what it needs to then be returned to Leader Dogs and begin its Guide Dog training. 1700 miles from home and here I am walking Onyx, a career change dog from Leader Dogs for the Blind. I volunteer at Leader Dogs taking care of the puppies and probably fed and cared for her before she went to her raisers. Her mom is a beautiful German Shepherd named Lucy Rose…..Steve

The girls enjoyed daily bike rides, traveling around the resort we stayed at.

Harmony did very well with all of the animals.

Harmony did a nice job walking with us at the grocery store.

Harmony was excited to see one of the Turtles, from our pond, digging a hole to lay her eggs in….Steve and Mary.

We recently learn the another couple have been feeding them as well. They, like us, will be heading north soon. We have a friend that is here year round and she said she will continue visiting them.

We have been feeding these homeless puppies and their moms for a couple of weeks now. We have been handling them with each visit and they are no longer afraid of people. We gave them lots of dog toys and introduced them to new things, like peanut butter, frozen bananas. and apple peals.

We called local animal shelters and they are all full. It's a huge problem in this area as people don't get their dogs fixed.
