Incredible field visit at Chili Institute! Exploring the pecan orchards, onion fields and chili 🌶️ institute. Also had the honor of hearing from students in their CAMP program designed for farm workers children to amplify their families’ traditional ecological knowledge and leverage it into industry knowledge for social mobility!

This all came about through the very special Imagining America conference - a liberatory gathering of educators, students and community partners.
Super excited to have the folks from the Chili Institute speak in my class at CPP.

The devotion to growing humans and food always astounds me. So much nuance in each bioregion.

Plenty of remarkable varieties coming home to Compton with me. Stay tuned for specialty peppers next season!

This mornings haul - thanks to neighbors and a prolific summer garden. The ratatouille ingredients are coming in strong and it’s hot enough the peppers are turning red!

Thank you community and friends for a spectacular field day - we had a delightful afternoon playing, eating, telling our stories.

We are excited to be meeting our next cohort members and learning their interests and desires. Believe me - these architects of the future know the power of care and joy!

It’s been a minute since we’ve featured all the good food that grows here.

Thank you for investing so much love, muscle and devotion to this land. Our French intensive gardening process really paid off this season. Time to seed up for fall.

No tomatoes in this pic because I just had a bionic hip inserted and climbing to the roof where they are growing in abundance is off limits for several more weeks 🤠

This summer is our first without Farm Camp - it sure is quiet and gosh do we miss everyone. The hiatus has given me plenty of space to heal and navigate immobility - a humbling process.

We can share that .to.shelf will begin outreach in the next week or so with plenty of tabling, open houses, and school visits. Keep your eye out for announcements and save 8/10 for our next Field Visit day.

With the noxious political climate demanding all our efforts and voice, we hope that you can nourish yourself in all the ways that keep you present and protected.

Moonwater Farm is looking for a Land Steward to join our collective! This part-time role in Compton is for someone who can build soil, increase yield, tend trees, wrangle a chipper, care for livestock, harvest mulberries, lead a school group, and speak up loudly for land and liberation. It’s hands-on, heart-first, and rooted in purpose.
