Sometimes, doing something, looks an awful lot like doing nothing... especially in our Grounded Horsemanship program!

But here, we celebrate the wins (both big and small)! We work through the hard, we don't quit, we cry when we need to, we adjust when & where necessary. We learn, we grow, we thrive!!

To you, this probably looks like 2 women just going through a gate a million times. To us, this looks like progress, this looks like a win, this looks Ike the start of something beautiful, and today we're celebrating that!! 🫶🥂

Say what you will about roosters, but we have not lost a hen since Richard's arrival and he has settled in really well (though we do still bring a shield in with us to get eggs and clean the coop) 🤣🫶🫣✌️

Leatherman Lane is on the hunt for a new barn manager, for the best of reasons!! Our current barn manager is growing her family and will need to focus on the tiny human she is making, so will be stepping back from her full-time position here.

Our barn manager is the first point of contact for our boarders (their questions and needs) as well as our barn help (their training, questions, & needs). She also works at the farm and is the leader of our care team (feeding, picking pastures, checking horses, maintaining fresh water & hay, as well as keeping up with the hay inventory). However, our full-time isn’t exactly a normal 9-5 full time! AM shift is typically 3-6 hours (depending on if hay and water were done the day before, the weather, and of course your pace) and PM shift is typically 1.5 hours.

We are looking for someone who is honest, organized, enjoys learning new things and being part of a team. You must have horse handling experience, as there will be times that you will need to hold horses for farrier or vet appointments. We do things a specific way here, so you will need to learn how we do them and then be able to train others to do the same. Those coming in like they know it all and want to do everything their way probably won’t be a good fit.

Speaking of “not a good fit” Please grab your beverage of choice, get comfortable, and watch this video explaining what life is like at Leatherman Lane, who we are looking for, and who we are NOT. It will save everyone time, stress, and energy if you make sure you understand who we are and how we do things before you swear up and down you want this job! And I will also point out, this is WORK. You will get dirty, you will get wet when it rains, sweat in the summer, and might not look cute all the time. You also will not get rich working here, so better love what you do. Those asking for 40k+ a year to do this are in the wrong line of work. If that’s a problem for you, we get it but again… this won’t be a good fit! Our Story

LEATHERMAN LANE is a unique equestrian facility located in Concord, North Carolina. We are a private boarding and training barn, known for hosting clinics with top trainers from across the US during our Horsemanship Clinic Series throughout the year.

Leatherman Lane offers boarding to a select number of horses, trail riding by appointment, as well as clinics and private lessons throughout the year. You must have your own horse to participate in these clinics, lessons, and trail riding sessions (sorry,we do not have horses available for lease to ride our trails, you must have your own).
