If riders want to know what it takes in the equitation, the ups and downs, take a look at this series from 2006. It was a documentary from Animal Planet about the “Road to the Maclay”. This is about commitment and dedication. If you just want to “ride” that’s ok, but if you really want to become a “competitive rider” it takes on a whole other level of commitment! No matter what your discipline is, it is truly about learning and being HUMBLE! You only know what you know and are willing to understand and accept what you don’t, but are open to learning from those who have been there, “the good, the bad, and the ugly”. This maybe an “elitist sport”, but nonetheless, it is a sport and you have to put in the work!
