Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord Merrimack County We work to place homeless pets in loving homes that are committed to their lifetime care. We make every attempt to answer all inquiries in a timely manner.

For the health and safety of everyone, we are currently limiting the number of visitors in our shelter at any given time. Masks are required inside the shelter, however we do not require them while visiting outside. All visitors will be asked to sign in.

Where are our Shepherd lovers at?! 🐾

Meet Echo, Andy, and Phoenix — three amazing pups at Pope Memorial SPCA who are full or part Shepherd and FULL of love. While they’re not bonded, they’re each waiting patiently for their match to come along. Could it be you?

🐶 Echo – This gorgeous German Shepherd isn’t just a pretty face. He’s incredibly smart, loyal, and loves nothing more than leaning in for snuggles. If you’re looking for a devoted companion, Echo is your guy.

🐶 Andy – A young Lab/Shepherd mix with puppy energy and a heart of gold. Andy came in as a stray, but he’s ready to write his next chapter with a family who will show him the ropes (and toss him a few treats along the way!).

🐶 Phoenix – A 6½-year-old Shepherd mix with a nose for adventure. Phoenix is sweet, smart, and always ready to explore the world by your side (bonus points if belly rubs are involved!). He’s the perfect sidekick for anyone who loves fresh air and good company.

These sweet boys are each looking for a loving home to call their own. 💚

The 4th of July may be fun for us but for many pets, it can be terrifying.

With fireworks, loud gatherings, and unfamiliar activity, this holiday is one of the top times pets go missing. 💥

✅ Keep pets indoors — even if they’re used to being outside.
✅ Make sure they have ID — check that tags and microchip info are up to date.
✅ Secure your home — frightened pets can bolt through open doors or windows.
✅ Skip the fireworks shows — leave pets at home, not in the car or crowd.
✅ Create a calm environment — play soothing music or white noise to mask outside sounds.
✅ Tire them out — exercise earlier in the day can help reduce anxiety at night.

Do you have a young animal lover at home? There’s still time to sign up for Compassion Camp for Kids; a fun and meaningful summer experience!

📅 Week 1: July 14–17
📅 Week 2: July 28–31
🕘 Monday–Thursday | 9am–4pm
👧 Ages 7–10

Campers will explore animal care, kindness, and advocacy through crafts, guest speakers, and hands-on time with shelter pets. 🐶🐱
