Summer is here!! Beware of heat exhaustion and hot ground for your pets.
See the link below on signs, symptoms, and prevention. If the ground is too hot for your hand or bare foot it is too hot for paws!
Did you know? During the summer, many animals adapt their behaviors to cope with the heat. Some seek water for cooling, like elephants and tigers, while others burrow underground, like moles and voles. Birds may pant, like dogs, and some even defecate on their legs for evaporative cooling, squirrels become more active in the early morning and late evening, and bats, who have been hibernating, emerge for food.
Do you ever notice your pet's behavior change during the temperature change?

Welcome back to FUN fact Friday!
Rabies Vaccines from the sky!
Did you know? To control rabies in wildlife, every year the USDA drops millions of oral rabies vaccines across fourteen states, mostly along the eastern seaboard. (Texas also has a program.) In urban and suburban areas, this usually means officials drive around, depositing bait where raccoons are likely to find it and eat it, like around dumpsters.
Welcome back to FUN Fact Friday! Happy PRIDE Month!!
Did you know? Some pet hair dyes are made with food-grade pigments, making them safe for dogs and cats? This means you can add a fun pop of color to your pet's fur without worrying about harmful chemicals like ammonia or peroxide. Semi-permanent options using these food-grade pigments can last for several washes, fading gradually over time. https://www.rover.com/blog/dog-fur-dye-everything-you-need-to-know-before-you-try-it/

Eww.......mosquitos! These pesky insects can carry different types of transmittable diseases for BOTH humans and pets. Have no fear there is protection for our favorite FUR MEMBERS!
Heartworm disease (heartworms) are relevant in cats & dogs. Treatment for dogs can be harsh on the body and cause a multitude of side effects, and there is no treatment for our feline companions. 😫 Prevention is key!! Mosquito 🦟 activity in California typically ramps up in May and reaches its peak during the summer months until temperatures start to drop around October.
Know the difference between a Mosquito and a "Mosquito Hawk". Crane flies are also called "mosquito eaters" or "mosquito hawks", but crane flies do not have any biting mouth parts! They do not bite. They drink nectar for sustenance.
Give us a call to talk to our team about heartworm prevention for your pet!
Did you know? A Dog’s Nose Is Its Fingerprint! No two dogs have the same nose. Each has a unique pattern to the individual, making a dog’s nose equivalent to a human’s fingerprint.
Show us your dog's unique nose print in the comments! Enjoy some of our wonderful employee's dog noses!!

Did you know? Cats do not have sweet taste receptors and therefore cannot taste sweetness! They possess a genetic mutation that prevents them from producing the necessary protein for detecting sweetness. They are primarily carnivores, meaning their diet consists mainly of meat, which is not high in natural sugars. While they can't taste sweetness, cats can still perceive other flavors like savory, sour, bitter, and salty, as well as potentially fat.
