Happy National Ag Day! 🌾

At Tallgrass, we’re grateful for our incredible farmer clients. Your hard work sustains us all!

In the early 1970s, farmers represented 4.3% of America’s workforce; today, that number is just 1.3%. Let’s celebrate those who feed and nourish our communities!

Happy National Boston Terrier Day!

🇺🇸 They were the first official breed in the United States

🤵 Bostons are nicknamed the "American Gentleman" because of their tuxedo-like markings

📌 They are the state dog of Massachusetts

🍎 Helen Keller had a Boston Terrier named Phiz, who was given to her by her classmates at Radcliffe College

👪 Boston Terriers are great with children and love human affection

🤰 They have narrow hips, which makes it difficult for them to deliver young ones, so most give birth via caesarian section.

💂‍♂️ Despite their small size, Boston Terriers are considered excellent guard dogs

🎩 Boston Terriers are great at tricks.

ALERT!! We were surprised by the construction crew today and the REGULAR FRONT LOBBY WILL BE CLOSED STARTING TODAY, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH!!! Please help us spread the word and we thank you for your patience during this time!

To our valued customers,
We’re thrilled to announce that we’re undergoing renovations to make our space better than ever! As we work hard to create a fantastic new environment for you, we want to ensure your convenience and satisfaction remain our top priorities.
Our regular front lobby on the West side of the building will be CLOSED starting Monday February 17th. All business will be conducted through the GROOMING & BOARDING entrance on the north side.
In order to better serve our customers during this time we are recommending drop-off appointments for non-emergent and routine services.

🔧 During this period, we are offering drop-off appointments for routine wellness examinations, vaccination appointments, and surgical procedures.
Simply park at the regular front entrance (or the Grooming entrance) and call our number (785-243-7400) and a member of our team will come speak with you regarding your pet’s needs and bring them inside for evaluation. Our dedicated team is here to provide the same exceptional service you’ve come to expect from us.

📅 How to Schedule a Drop-Off Appointment:
Call us at [785-243-7400] and mention you are interested in a drop-off appointment when scheduling.
For emergent and other similar services we still welcome you to the exam room with your pet.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we make these exciting improvements. We can’t wait to welcome you to our newly renovated space soon!

Best regards, Tallgrass Veterinary Hospital Team

Join us in celebrating Hedgehog Day!

🦔 There are 14 species of hedgehog around the world. Largely concentrated in Europe, Africa, and Asia.

🦔 With about 5,000 spines each, these prickly pals curl into a ball for protection.

🦔 Hedgehogs rely heavily on their sense of smell. They can detect food under an inch of soil and can often sense the presence of danger.

🦔 Omnivorous and nocturnal, they feast on earthworms and berries while exploring up to 3 KMs at night.

🦔 Hedgehogs self-anoint. This seems to be connected with irregular smells or tastes making them create large quantities of frothy saliva which they then flick over their spines with their tongue.

🦔 Baby hedgehogs are called hoglets. Hoglet litters are born in late spring/early summer and the young spend around a month in their parents’ nest before setting off into the big wide world.
