Bunnies in rehab

08/08/2024

Several weeks ago, an opossum came in that had been raised by his finder because at the time she wasn't able to find a wildlife rehabilitator to take him in. Fast forward several months and he has finally figured out how to be a opossum and is ready to get his freedom.

As summer winds down and school goes back into session, i wanted to extend a special thanks to Theil College for allowing Katie Cook to intern here at Dr.Dolittle's House Wildlife Rehab Center. She has been an essential part of managing the high volume of wildlife coming thru our doors.

Katie walks away from this experience with a good understanding of animal heath and behavior, habitat enrichment, medical care and dietary needs for a variety of different species. She gained hands on experience giving subcutaneous fluids, wound manegement and administion of medication. She also gained experience with habitat diversity and species specific needs such as an emphasis on digging, swimming, climbing as well as dietary needs and requirements.

We wish katie the best of luck!
May all your dreams come true

We are currently looking for people in cuyahoga county to give us permission to release some skunks on their property. By law, all animals must be returned to the county they came from. We have 13 skunks ready for release that need to start their new lives in cuyhoga county.....who wants to offer them a place to call home?

They love to eat yellow jackets and wasps!

If interested, please call or text us at 440- 661-2696

Thank!

P.s. These are wild skunks, they are not tame and they are not pets. They need to be released back into the wild.

Baby bunnies nurse from their mom twice a day, generally at dawn and dusk, when bunnies are orphaned, they are dependent on wildlife rehabilitators for their nourishment and survival. Tube feeding is the best method to provide bunnies with the nourishment that they need to grow.

Here I am demonstrating how to properly tube feed an animal, even tho this fella didn't want to cooperate!

07/23/2024

This little fella opened his eyes yesterday, how fast they grow up! Today we are going to demonstrate how to tube feed the bunny. Tube feeding is the preferred method of feeding baby bunnies as it reduces the risk of aspiration, is less stressful than syringe feeding and is also faster which puts less stress on the animal. Bunnies do not handle stress well so the faster they can get away from us humans are get back to their hiding spot the happier they are
