I am a foster for a rescue in Maryland. This past Monday I got this beautiful soul to foster. He is only 16 weeks old and was assume to have been hit by a car and left to die. A good Samaritan found him thank goodness. He has 2 broken legs front and back left side. Please send up some positive thoughts and prayers for Morgan. (Morgan was the last name of the Good Samaritan that found him)

There was a homeless man who 'camped' in the covered garage where my office was located. You'd see him huddle down for the night, along with his little dog, a small scruffy little terrier mix. When I walked thru the garage on my way to lunch, I would often check to see where he was and then bring him a burger and drink. He always tore the sandwich in half, ate one half and gave the other to his dog. I started bringing him a bag of dry dog food every month and he took great pains to keep it dry. His little dog rode in the child's seat in the grocery cart wherever he went.
One especially cold winter morning, I noticed his dog was missing and he seemed utterly forlorn. I bought him some coffee and he explained how the city rounded up the homeless and took them to the shelter because it was bitterly cold and they took his dog away from him. They took her to the local shelter (no license, no tags, no rabies vaccination). I was appalled.
I took the morning off, picked him up from the garage & drove him to the shelter where we asked to look for his 'lost' dog. When we found her, she put up such a racket of pure joy upon seeing him: yipping, yelping, wiggling uncontrollably. Paws squeezed between chain link trying to touch her master and his fingers stroking her little face.
I paid for her license, basic shots and retrieval fee and he rode back in silence hugging her so tight, I thought he would break her. When we got out, I told him to keep her safe. He hugged me, made Sasha give me a smooch of thanks, and hurried off to where he'd hidden his cart.
I understand the need to keep these souls safe but taking his one undeniable friend -- while legally founded -- was gut wrenchingly wrong on so many other levels.
Any act of kindness can change lives….no matter how great or small.

We are in search of someone willing to step up and provide long-term foster care or adoption for a special set of girls. Lovingly dubbed our Iso Trio, Joy Scroggs, Victoria Chase & Melanie Moretti are a bundle of beauty. They came to us after their dad lost his home and had a very hard time adjusting to shelter life. After bouts of refusing to eat due to how hard the transition was and through much trial and error we've worked to identify a few of their quirks. These three girls only eat consistently if they are housed together, and therefore must stay together as a 3-pack. Joy has a severe case of grump face and she and Victoria would much rather spend their time together than bothering with most humans; they aren't mean about it, just indifferent. Melanie, however, absolutely loves people and is quite outgoing. Foster homes are provided with food and all of the girls’ ongoing veterinary care will continue to be provided by us if they remain in foster. We do ask that fosters provide litter in their home as we go through so much of it and it is one of our largest overall cost points. All foster homes are required to pass a veterinary reference check for all pets in the home. We feel that these three girls would sincerely benefit from a stable home environment that is much less hustle and bustle than the shelter is. If you are interested in fostering Joy Scroggs, Victoria Chase & Melanie Moretti, or potentially adopting them, please reach out to us via email at [email protected].

Best scenario, I pray to live until my last cat is over the rainbow bridge or in a new safe home. Then I will be pleased to be allowed to join them.

We need to go first because we cannot live without your love and care. If we lived longer than you, we would not and could not survive. It’s supposed to be this way. We also need to cross the Rainbow Bridge before you do so that we can be on the other side to greet you when you get there. We wait at home for you here and we wait at home for you there. It’s just the way it is.
