Hay isn’t just hay out here… it’s horse fuel. 🌾 Clover☘️ should come with a warning label because of all the messy slobber! Timothy is the go-to steady eddy: clean, simple, and great for most horses. Orchard grass is softer and sweeter, perfect for picky eaters. Alfalfa is the protein powerhouse… amazing for hard keepers but a little too much juice for easy keepers. Mixed grass hay gives you balance, like a one legged flamingo😂. And Bermuda? Fine when done right, but quality matters. Bottom line: good hay = happy horses, and happy horses bring the whole ranch to life!🐴✨P.S. The favorite around here is alfalfa!

So far Bruce has been turned out with Laura, Scoby and Spartan, Baby Eulah, and Petal. Laura is by far his favorite. I think he gets comfort from her. She has been very gentle with him for the most part. Bruce did NOT care to be turned out with Eulah or Petal, but he didn’t mind the baby boys. All of these except for Laura are mini horses. I have not turned him out with our two big geldings yet. The plan is to wait until he’s more sound in his feet because I know there’s going to be a lot of moving, running, maybe even jumping when I finally put them all together. And I still haven’t put him out with Rosie or Starlight but I’m going to soon. Just letting him meet everyone one at a time. More in the comments! ⬇️

If something isn’t serving you anymore and it’s only ⚠️getting in your way and 🐢slowing you down… it’s time to tear that sucker down! Whether it’s a bad habit or an old fence that the 🚜 tractor can’t fit through… it’s time to say “Bye Felicia!”
⏳Now is the time to grow, to shed off, to let go of, to make way for what God is about to do! God needs us to be free of what’s been holding us back, but it’s up to us to choose that freedom and put in the foot work!💪

TRYING TO LURE BRUCE OUT WITH ALFALFA CUBES- Even though he was trapped in a stall for almost a year he still prefers the stall to freedom.
🐎I leave the gate open most of the time. And I make him come out and socialize. But I want him to want it. I want him to choose it.
🫣It’s amazing how much he reminds me of a certain season in my own life. A time when I would choose what would hold me back simply because it felt familiar and that made me feel safe. The unknown can be scary. For people in recovery from drug addiction that newness is a terrifying level of vulnerability that takes time to get comfortable in. It’s ok to feel afraid and it’s ok to make mistakes. Just know that there’s someone waiting for you outside of your stall and all they want to do is love you.

We rescued a gentle giant! Ok so technically we aren’t the ones who initially rescued this sweet boy, but we are now a part of his journey and hopefully the happy ending he needs! And we can’t wait to meet the family who saved him from where he was! Bruce was abandoned by his previous owners and locked in a stall for almost a year. A month ago he was rescued and brought to my trainer’s barn. Last week I got the message that this boy was looking for a soft place to land. After losing Flash I didn’t think I was ready to take on another horse but knowing what he went through I just had to go see him. Doug and Sam and I all loved him right away and 2 days before Christmas we brought him home! Welcome home Bruce!
