Even as a baby, Baby Eulah has been phenomenal at helping ladies and children both, to practice stillness, build trust, and experience gentleness and softness where bitterness and hardness has begun to set in. Itā€™s been obvious from the very beginning that Eulah has a very special giftā€¦ in fact, if you rearrange the letters in her name it spells HEAL U! Who out there is in need of some pony snuggles right now!?

Since weā€™ve had nice warm weather weā€™ve been leaving Ari outside with Uno during the day. Theyā€™ve been bonding and sheā€™s getting used to being outside. Doug thinks tonight is the night and we should leave her at the barn for good. šŸ„¹šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø A mommaā€™s heart is never ready for these things.

DID YOU KNOW!? šŸ“±Heavy smartphone use can reduce gray matter volume in areas of the brain that are responsible for impulse control and emotional regulation, leading to increased anxiety and difficulty focusing. šŸ“STUDIES SHOW that spending time outdoors lowers cortisol levels and increases serotonin and dopamine. Interacting with horses also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to calm the brain and reduce anxiety. These experiences can even support the growth of gray matter by encouraging real world problem solving, emotional connection, and physical activity!

They say, ā€œWere you born in a barn?ā€ like itā€™s a bad thing! Like it means youā€™re messy, wild, or donā€™t know how to shut the door behind you. But maybe being born in a barn, at least in Spirit, is exactly what the world needs more of.

Because in a barn, you learn patience when a horse wonā€™t move until you find your calm. You learn gentleness when a nervous pony finally trusts your touch. You learn self-control when frustration rises, but you choose connection over force. You learn that real love isnā€™t just a feelingā€”itā€™s a commitment, showing up day after day, no matter how hard or messy it gets.

So, if being ā€œborn in a barnā€ means growing in faith, character and strengthā€¦ then yeah, I guess I was.

Thereā€™s something about the steady rhythm of a horseā€™s breathing, the warmth of their body, and the quiet presence they offer that brings a sense of calm like nothing else. Horses have an incredible ability to help regulate emotions, lower anxiety, and provide a safe spaceā€”especially for those who struggle to express themselves in words. They donā€™t demand conversation or explanations. They just ARE. And in their presence, we can simply BE, too.

šŸ“The Biophilia Theory suggests that humans have an innate connection to nature and a deep rooted need to interact with the natural world. This theory, introduced by biologist E.O. Wilson, proposes that our mental, emotional and even physical health improves when we engage with nature, animals, and organic environments!

For kids working with horses, this connection is especially powerful! In a world dominated by screens and artificial stimulation, many children are disconnected from the natural rhythms of life. Horses offer a hands-on, immersive experience that engages all the sensesā€”feeling the warmth of a horseā€™s coat, hearing the rhythmic sound of hooves, and moving in sync with an animal much larger than themselves. These interactions build confidence, patience, and emotional awareness in ways that digital experiences cannot replicate. By stepping into nature and working with horses, kids not only develop essential life skills but also restore a sense of balance, focus, and well-being that modern distractions often disrupt.

Horses are incredible mirrors of human emotions. They not only pick up on, but absorb and reflect our energy and body language. If youā€™re calm and grounded, they tend to relax. If youā€™re anxious or distracted, they might seem restless or distant. This makes them powerful partners in because they provide honest, immediate feedback.

In life, much like with horses, our energy influences the connections we have with those around us. When we learn to approach situations with intention and self-awareness, we create space for deeper, more meaningful relationshipsā€”not only with animals but also with people.

TODAYS LESSON? Take a moment to check your energy. What are you bringing to the tableā€”and what might your horse (or the people around you) be trying to show you about yourself? Are you brave enough to listen!?

"Hold your horses" is an idiom that means to be patient, wait, or slow down. This should come as no surprise to us since being with horses slows us down by requiring us to match their calm, steady energy. Also, because they live in the moment, respond to our body language, and donā€™t rush, this encourages us to pause, breathe, and be fully present. So hold your horses!

Constantly being connected can wear you down, leaving you stressed, comparing yourself to others, and quite literally taking your mind hostage! Taking a break from social media, the internet, video games and TV gives you a chance to step back, clear your head, and focus on what really mattersā€”your family, your faith, and who you are at your core. For teens, itā€™s a way to shake off the pressure of trying to keep up with everyone else. And for the mamas, itā€™s a chance to reconnect with yourself and set an example of what it looks like to be present and grounded. Sometimes, the best way to find joy is to unplug and just be in the moment together. Whenā€™s the last time you shared a real heart to heart moment? I dare you to lay that phone down and open your eyes to Godā€™s creation and all it has to offerā€¦. I dare you!
