317 days waiting for a home!
We have shared Mateo before but with no interest, he continues to wait in the shelter and has now officially become the shelter’s longest resident. Can you imagine being rescued off the streets only to sit in a kennel for over 317 days?! BUT he remains hopeful that his perfect family is out there and continues to show unconditional love and a happy spirit! Mateo recently spent some time in the staff office and was perfectly behaved. He enjoyed lounging on a comfy bed, playing with toys, and just being his calm, gentle self. Mateo has also shown excellent leash skills, knows "sit" and "shake," and has a kennelmate, which shows he can share his space with another dog. He's done well on foster field trips and was a pro during his photoshoot! Can't adopt? Then we hope you consider fostering (either short term or long term) to give him the experience of love and a home. Please come be his hero!

Adopt Clifford!
1/28 UPDATE- Clifford is now in a foster home. If interested in adopting him, email [email protected] with his ID # A405494 to set up a meet and greet.

Clifford arrived at the shelter in early October. When he first came in, he was understandably nervous and had some initial challenges with staff. However, with patience and gentle handling, Clifford has started to open up and show his true personality. He loves playing with toys and has a strong food drive, which makes him eager to learn. He’s already mastered “sit” and “shake” and is a quick learner who would thrive in a home with structure and training.
Volunteers took Clifford and a couple of other dogs on a hike recently. Clifford was able to catch a short break from shelter life and show his sweet, affectionate personality and playful nature. See video for more.
Clifford cannot be co-kenneled in the shelter. He may need to be the only dog in a home, but with a patient and experienced adopter, could be okay with a doggie sibling. It is hard to tell when all we have is the stressful shelter environment to observe a dog’s nature. We hope the right family sees this and considers adopting or fostering Clifford.

Adopt Briar!
UPDATE 1/28- ADOPTED!!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Found as a stray with her puppies over 300 days ago, it is about time Briar finds a home of her own. She recently went out as a “foster for the day” and this is what the volunteer thought about her:
“Briar is a stunning, loving pup and I cannot believe she hasn’t been adopted yet! She was easy to walk on leash and she was friendly with my own dogs. She was playful but also backed down when my shiba got sassy with her. She tried to chase my cats at first, but calmed down after a bit. For the rest of the day, she respected their space when they wanted to be left alone but gave them gentle sniffs when they were interested. Briar was sociable and happy to meet new people. She gave me sweet kisses and happily accepted belly rubs. She was my shadow and I think she would make a very loyal companion. But when I sat down to work at my computer, she was happy to just lay in the dog bed. She is estimated to be 2 years old but she has the calm energy of an older dog. She seems house trained because she didn’t have accidents in the house and went immediately when she was outside (but over one day, I can’t say for sure). Briar definitely seems eager to please and already knows commands like “sit” and “paw.” I think she would make a great family member! Please come meet her!”

Loretta is a gem of a girl, she adores treats, and after about 5 minutes, she will be by your side asking for attention. She will lean in for some pets and affection. This little mama dog was a fierce defender of her babies. They all were adopted and now she’s looking for her turn to find a forever loving home. She’s a real love!❤️

Houston is a gem that has been waiting far too long for his people- over 300 days❗️❗️ If you’re looking to add a pup to the family, we hope you consider him. Can’t adopt? Why not get your steps in by taking him out for a hike or fun field trip? We hope to see you soon!
Here is what volunteers have to say about Houston:
“Houston is wonderful and so deserving of a family & forever home. He knows his people and is loyal to a tee. He knows sit and paw and has been so good with other dogs!!! Also house trained!!! Please come and visit Houston ”
“Houston explored The Woodlands Waterway and had so much fun playing with his schnauzer friends! He loves chasing light reflections, playing with balls, and is super well-behaved.”
“We can’t explain why Houston hasn’t found his forever home! He’s a volunteer favorite! Houston has a fun youthful and playful side. He walks well on leash at almost 70 lbs! He sat pretty & took treats gently but his favorite is to SNUGGLE! He’s a cool dog!”

Adopt Harvey!
UPDATE: ADOPTED!
Harvey has been patiently waiting for a forever home for 317 days‼ He is currently living it up in a foster home but is still looking for a permanent home. Here is what his foster has said about him:
“Harvey has been fostered with us for 2 weeks now. He is such a good boy! He loves to play with our other dogs. He’s a little afraid of the cat but hasn’t shown any aggression towards the cats or chickens. He did so well with the grandkids. They played outside together for hours. He’s house trained and sits to wait for treats. He’s going to make a great best friend for some lucky family!”

Adopt Branlie!
313 days in the shelter and still waiting‼
✨Adopt Branlie, A396305, Spayed Female, 2 yrs, 41 lbs, Labrador Mix ✨
Branlie is an amazing dog that due to overpopulation, keeps getting overlooked at the shelter. Branlie has done well with other dogs and has been on a few trips outside the shelter, earning glowing reviews every time. She is fun, playful, and affectionate. Please consider adopting or fostering Branlie, for any length of time, to give her a break from the stress of shelter life.

Meet young Bantha (A402989).
Bantha is a playful, happy, affectionate dog. He’s got tons of personality and charm, and he loves spending time with people. Bantha loves to swim and he loves his treats. He has mastered the “sit” command and proves to be food-motivated and very trainable.
Being a young dog (about 1.5 years old), Bantha has quite some energy that he needs to be able to release by being able to run around, through play, interacting with humans and other types of mental stimulation. Unfortunately, being one among 400 dogs at a shelter, Bantha doesn’t get nearly as much activity as he needs. He has exhibited some signs of frustration at the shelter and is unable to share his kennel with another dog.
Bantha would thrive in a home, with a family to call his own. Please consider giving Bantha a chance. Adopt of foster Bantha!
