We had an amazing time attending NAVC's VMX in Florida for the first time! It was a great week connecting with veterinary professionals and sharing the Lakefield story—plus getting to enjoy some sunshine.

But let’s be honest—Hamish stole the show! 🐶✨ Our booth dog quickly became the star, winning hearts and making friends everywhere he went.

The recent Los Angeles wildfires have left many animals in urgent need of help. In the coming days, more and more animals suffering from burns and other injuries will require critical medical care.

Lakefield is supporting Pasadena Humane, which has taken in over 400 animals since the fires began and is at capacity with drop-offs and goods donations. They are in greater need of monetary support to assist with treatment and ongoing care.

We are doing our part by matching up to $5,000 for the Pasadena Humane to help support lifesaving care for these animals, you can donate directly through this social media post.

More Steps, More Moments! 🐾 Meet Diego, a 12-year-old acrobatic cat who has rediscovered his playful spirit thanks to Solensia injections. After his owners noticed he was becoming stiff and less active, they scheduled a mobility consultation with their veterinarian. The treatment worked wonders! In fact, Diego now feels so good that when someone accidentally left the pantry door ajar, he leaped from the kitchen counter to the top of the refrigerator, opened the door with his paw, climbed to the top shelf, and knocked over a flour canister, scattering flour everywhere.

Summer heat can be extremely dangerous for pets, potentially leading to heatstroke. To protect your furry friends, ensure they have plenty of water and shade, and avoid vigorous exercise during peak heat hours. Never leave pets in cars, and if you suspect heatstroke, contact your vet immediately.

Each year, thousands of pets suffer from heatstroke, with an estimated 50% not surviving the condition. Between 1,800 and 2,000 dogs die annually from car-related heatstroke. A study from San Francisco State University found that when it's 80 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car can reach 99 degrees in just 10 minutes and 109 degrees in 20 minutes. Since dogs don't have efficient ways to cool themselves, they can succumb to heatstroke in less than 15 minutes.

Stay vigilant during the hot summer months to keep your pets safe.

Please keep your pets safe and indoors during the fireworks 💥. Playing the TV, music and a fan will help drown out the noise. If you must let them outdoors keep them on a leash so they don’t get scared and run. Thunder shirts are great as well as crating your pet with a blanket over the crate.
