🐕 Letter from Interim Chief Tipton 🐈

Thank you for visiting the Conroe Animal Shelter page. We wanted to take a moment to update our community on the progress we’re making to develop an animal shelter that you can be proud of.

Our dedicated staff is working diligently to lay the foundation for a facility that not only meets the needs of the animals we care for but also serves the citizens of Conroe with compassion and efficiency. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are focusing on several key areas:

Mission and Core Values: We are refining our mission statement and aligning our practices to
ensure the highest standards of care, safety, and service.

Best Practices & Policies: We are researching and implementing the best practices, policies, and procedures from animal shelters across the state to ensure we’re providing the best care possible. This includes consultations with veterinarians, rescue groups, and shelter managers to ensure we remain compliant and effective in all aspects of our operations.

Community Feedback: The input we’ve received from citizens has been invaluable. We continue to gather resources and suggestions to provide our City Council with accurate, community-driven information. Your support is helping us move forward with confidence.

Staffing & Budget: To better assess staffing needs, we’ve been conducting budget surveys with shelters of similar size and population. This ensures we are strategically planning for the resources we need to operate smoothly and effectively.

Extended Hours: To better accommodate the citizens of Conroe, we are pleased to announce that the shelter will remain open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Low-Cost Clinic: We are re-establishing our low-cost clinic, which will be held twice a month on
Tuesdays to provide accessible services for your pets. This will be announced on social media
when it will be open.

Record-Keeping Software: We are in the process of transitioning to a new, user-friendly recordkeeping system that will enhance our operational efficiency and improve service to the public.

Staff Education: In collaboration with the ASPCA, we are utilizing ASPCAPro tools to further
educate and train our staff, ensuring that we’re consistently advancing in animal welfare practices.

Thank you again for your continued support as we work to build a shelter that not only meets the needs of the animals in our care but also serves the greater Conroe community.
