🐾 Ensuring Fear Free Vet Visits for Our Furry Friends! 🐾
At Arfordable Dog Training, we prioritize fear free cooperative care for every dog. From nail trims to blood draws, we understand that vet visits can be scary for our furry pals, so we strive to create a calming and positive experience for them waaaay before the visit occurs.
We focus on creating positive associations by working with you and your dog at the vet clinic through Happy Visits and on-sight training.
By partnering with your dog’s vet staff to work on gentle handling techniques, using positive reinforcement, and creating an stress-free environment, we aim to make vet visits as comfortable as possible. This not only benefits their physical health but also their emotional well-being. Their Vet definitely appreciates it too!
Remember, a happy and relaxed dog makes for a successful vet visit! 🐶💕 To sign up - send us a DM or reach out at 210-418-1440 or [email protected].

We’re not your typical dog training company. We train hard and we play hard. Sometimes we even get it on camera. 🤪😂
We don’t use pain, force or fear. We act silly and enjoy the controlled chaos. Ready to have fun with your dog again? Send us a DM or reach out at 210-418-1440 or [email protected]. #cookiepusher

Sometimes you gotta have some Creativity in Reactivity! During a fun-filled Day Training class, our Trainer, Lisa suggested doing some DIY Agility. Sometimes during reactivity training, we forget to have fun. Activities like Trick Training, Nosework, and even Agility can help improve Reactivity by just having fun. Here are some reasons why
Agility training can be beneficial:
1. Mental Stimulation: It provides mental stimulation, which can help redirect their focus and energy away from triggers that cause reactivity.
2. Physical Exercise: It offers physical exercise, which can help reduce overall anxiety levels and promote relaxation.
3. Builds Confidence: Successfully completing agility obstacles can boost a dog’s confidence and self-esteem, helping to decrease fear-based reactions.
4. Bonding Opportunity: It strengthens the bond between the dog and its handler through positive reinforcement and teamwork.
5. Obedience and Reliability: Agility training reinforces obedience cues and improves the dog’s ability to listen and respond to cues, which can be crucial in managing reactive behavior.
6. Distraction Training: It teaches dogs to focus on tasks and navigate obstacles despite distractions, which can be useful in redirecting attention away from triggers.
Overall, agility training provides a holistic approach to addressing reactivity by addressing both the physical and mental aspects of the behavior while promoting a positive relationship between the dog and its handler. Next time you have a moment, build your own Agility course and have some fun!

Tired of your dog jumping on people when they want to meet him? Embarrassed when they nibble that the person’s hand? Worry that they will knock over the child saying hi? Just know, we can help!
It’s taken a lot of repetition to get to this point with this very social Labrador. Over and over and over, “Can I pet your dog?” “Only if he’s sitting…”
Sometimes giving that little disclaimer can make or break that Sit for Greetings but once they master it… 🤌 #chefskiss

Ever wonder why dogs roll around in stinky things like carcasses, deer poo or fish chews? Here are a few reasons why dogs might roll around in these disgusting things:
Masking scent: Dogs have a keen sense of smell, and rolling in stinky things could be a way for them to mask their own scent with the smells of the carcass, potentially making them less detectable to prey or predators.
Social behavior: Rolling in stinky things may serve as a form of communication or social behavior, allowing dogs to leave their scent and potentially communicate with other dogs in the area.
Instinctual behavior: Dogs are descendants of wolves, which are known to roll in strong-smelling substances as a way to bring scents back to their pack. This behavior may have persisted in domestic dogs as an instinctual behavior.
Pleasure or stimulation: Some dogs simply find rolling in dead things pleasurable or stimulating, possibly due to the interesting smells or textures.
Attention-seeking behavior: In some cases, dogs may roll in unalive things to get attention from their owners, especially if they receive a strong reaction or interaction after doing so.
Enrichment is enrichment as disgusting as it may be.
It’s National Sibling Day!
In honor of today, we’d wanted to showcase these 2 handsome brothers that came to us from a pretty difficult situation and have thrived in their training.
From birth defects to mystery injuries between each other to fights a complete life changes including divorce and apartment living, it’s had a pretty crazy year for these 2 and their dedicated mom.
We were asked to step in to help with the reintegration process. Thankfully, mom had already put in the obedience groundwork and we worked to rebuild a once broken bond. Though muzzle training , bonding exercises, counter conditioning and slow desensitization we’ve been able to reintroduce them in different environments including the training facility, living room (session room), out in public, and at Casa de Pup Pup without conflict.
It’s been a pleasure working with these 2 and couldn’t be prouder of their progress! #nationalsiblingday

Parents of Reactive Rovers: It can be deflating when your dog has moment and gets overstimulated, stressed, scared or aggressive. They bark. They lunge. Remember, it’s ok.
You’re human. You blink. You look away. The dog reacts. Things happen. Breathe. Recover. We’ll do better the next time.
It’s easier said than done but don’t be embarrassed. Don’t get discouraged. Yes, it can feel isolating but there are others like you with similar struggles. At Arfordable Dog Training, you have an entire support system to help you. We know what it’s like to be where you’re at and feel how you feel. Just know it’s ok. You’re both trying the best you can each and every day.
