Have a bad day? You know, one of those days…when everything you did was wrong. Nothing went how it was supposed to go; every office machine you touched immediately broke or jammed; and the mayo on your sandwich tasted funny. Well, if this was your day, we have what you need. Sit back, take three deep breaths and just look at this face. Don’t think. Just look. The dog is as soft and sweet. His eyes really are that sincere. And the only thing he asks of you is to love him. His name is Big Mac. He’s a Great Pyrenees mix. Two years old and 71 pounds. Now, just sit there and think about how good it would be to come to this face. No matter what happened at work, this face would be there as soon as you opened the door. And suddenly, whatever happened wouldn’t even matter.

A Tale of Two Sisters Part 2:
Here’s Mayla’s equally scruffy and adorable sister, who’s named Myla. Yeah, the names are kind of confusing. But they are two different dogs. Myla has a big white blaze on her chest. Mayla does not. Other than that, they look almost alike. Both weigh about 45 pounds. The sisters are 10 months old and are believed to be poodle/schnauzer crosses, commonly called schnoodles. But they could be something else. Myla is bright, observant and friendly. The sisters arrived labeled as a bonded pair. We are going to test that to determine whether they can be adopted separately. We don’t know for sure right now. But if you want to adopt both of them, feel free to go ahead and apply now!

Elvis has decided that no one read his memo, which clearly stated that Saturday mornings are for sleeping in. He says the ‘early to bed, early to rise’ philosophy is half wrong. The second half should be ‘rise at your choosing.’ And he chooses to still be snoozing. Elvis is a redbone hound mix, and he likes to take life easy. Very easy. He’s a wonderful, sweet and snuggly boy. Elvis is 8-months old and 81 pounds. He’s not tiny. He’s tall. And he naps.

Lucy Luna…a study in contrast. Her eyes don’t match, but her feet do. Her ears don’t always stand together. Each does what it wants, when it wants. Her coat has two colors from opposite ends of the spectrum…snowy white and obsedium black. Lucy shines like a diamond out in the sun, and her blue eye might have some sort of magical powers. Sometimes Lucy has the expression of a stern librarian. And sometimes, she has the little grin of a prankster. She’s always sweet and friendly, and she’ll catch your eye as soon as you walk into the room. Lucy hasn’t gotten much interest, and we’re afraid she’s starting to notice it. She’s a good girl, and her contrasts make her extra special!

Here’s something we haven’t done in at least a month of Sundays…a glamour shot! The pretty dog is Yoko. In this shot, the relaxed pose and that perfect smile take center stage. Honestly, this looks like a publicity shot. And maybe it is, because we sure are trying to find this baby a home. Yoko is a small hound mix. She’s 11 months old and weighs 35 pounds. She will probably top out around 40 pounds. Yoko is very personable…outgoing, friendly and sunny. And she’s a natural beauty. She didn’t have on a stitch of makeup in this shot. And look at her!

This is Snoop. And he has questions. Lots of them. He wants to know everything about you…right down to your shoe size and which breakfast cereal is your favorite. The boy needs information. And to be in your personal space, because he can’t get to know you from across the room. If you want a dog that is totally invested in you, Snoop is your boy. He’s a hunting dog mix…likely lab and some kind of pointer. He’s handsome, grounded and well-rounded. Friendly boy who does well with other dogs. Snoop is 9 months old and weighs 44 pounds. And he really is going to change somebody’s life for the better.

Watch where you step…looks like somebody spilled spots all over the floor. Oh wait…that’s Max, who is our spotted Catahoula mix. He has a gorgeous coat and a really sweet face. Max is 2 years old and weighs 62 pounds. He’s young and energetic but is good at heart. Max doesn’t have a clue that’s he’s not a teacup poodle. In his mind, he can be a purse dog. We are working on his manners and his commands, and the big guy is doing great!

Vander and his trainer, taking a quick timeout to pose for pictures. As cute and good as Vander is, he’s still not adopted. He’s a fine young man with a good head in his shoulders. He can and will outthink you. Vander is affectionate and willing to try just about anything. He’s a mixed breed, about 1 year old and 52 pounds. Vander might be in danger of getting overlooked and that would be a shame. He’s too good a boy for that to happen!

My apologies for the lack of posts, but I’m busy not enjoying a bout with the Type A flu. For some reason, color pictures and movies hurt my eyes right now. Right or wrong, I’m blaming it on the fever. But here’s a pretty picture of Harley and all his marvelous stripes. And just seeing his smiling face makes me feel better. I hope it has the same effect on you. He’s a 5-month-old mountain cur mix. Harley is smart, outgoing and friendly. He would make an outstanding Walmart greeter. Or a cruise director. He needs a home. And you need a good dog. Sounds like a perfect match!!!

Instant reaction to hearing that he is the good boy! This is Ham, whose full name is Hamburglar. He’s such a joyful dog. He doesn’t care if the glass is half full or empty; he’s delighted just to have a glass. Ham is 18 months old and weighs 38 pounds. He’s not a big guy, but his zest for life is enormous. Ham is a mix…maybe of English pointer and a bully breed. He is a wonderful dog who only wants to make everyone happy. He really is that kind of guy.

Eager little guy right here. His name is Baby Boy, and he’s ready to do something. Whatever you want, he’s up for it. Baby is a sharply marked bully breed mix. He’s 3 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He’s compact, and looks smaller than he weighs. Now, if you’re looking for his ears, keep on looking. They’re mostly gone, the result of a DIY cropping attempt gone wrong. Look, unless you’re a real doctor, never do surgery on yourself, someone else or your pets. It won’t end well. Because you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. Baby is still very cute. And he knows that it’s what’s in his heart that really counts.

French Fry has the look of the All American Dog. The kind of dog that roughhouses in the yard with the kids after school; goes on long walks in the evening with whoever is holding the leash; curls up with the family to watch TV; then nods off and gently snores when the kids finally give him a break. Every home should have one. French is up for the assignment. He’s a yellow lab mix, 10 months old and 35 pounds. He’s smart, friendly and busy. He will be medium-sized…not too big and not too small for a busy family. Or anyone else. He’s a great guy in need of great people.

When happiness steps up to greet you. The dog is Oreo McFlurry. And his happiness is contagious. He’s nearly always smiling or grinning. If he’s not, chances are good that he’s asleep. Oreo is a mixed breed, possibly of an English pointer and a bully breed. His name comes from the fact that his coat resembles an Oreo McFlurry, which is a mashup of Oreos and vanilla ice cream. He’s 18 months old and weighs 51 pounds. And just like ice cream treat, he’s sweet and addicting. But he’s not fattening!

Such a little lady. Actually, Sweet Pea is a medium-sized lady. She weighs 48 pounds and is 1 one year old. She is quite the looker…with a gorgeous black on white coat, spotted ears and soft, welcoming eyes. Sweet Pea really is sugar and spice and everything nice. She’s a mix of breeds…maybe some Catahoula. Maybe some Dalmatian. Or maybe a half dozen other breeds. Mostly, though, she’s just pretty. And good. Sweet Pea doesn’t stir the pot or fire up the troops. She’s way more settled than that. She was born to be a house dog. She knows it, and we do, too.

Nope. Not a magazine ad. Not a calendar photo. This is an actual shot of an actual dog in the program. His name is Snoop, and he’s magnificent. He’s naturally handsome and innately good. His essential nature is to be someone’s very best friend. Snoop is a hunting dog mix…maybe some pointer and/or lab. He’s about 10 months old and weighs 45 pounds. Snoop enjoys romping and rolling. Of course he does; he’s still a pup. But he really loves to snuggle. When we talk about a dog being somebody’s dog of a lifetime, Snoop is exactly the kind of dog we mean. Not perfect, but perfectly wonderful.

How’s this for making a first impression? The coat and those eyes are stunning! You honestly can’t look away. This is Gus, and he arrives today. Gus is an 18-month-old, 55-pound Catahoula mix with a piercing gaze and a pudding personality. Everybody is his friend, even folks he hasn’t met. He thinks he’s a lap dog and will do all he can to prove it. He does well with kids. In fact, he’ll try to herd them so that nobody wanders off. It’s the Catahoula in him. He was found alongside a highway in Scott, where he was dumped. Big mistake. Gus is on his way to incredible things!

Handsome Boy Wednesday - Part 2!
Tonight’s fine looking young man is Silverio. He’s a brindle with gorgeous stripes and a black mask. He’s a mix, with Black Mouth Cur a likely suspect. He’s 9 months old and weighs 55 pounds. This dog tries very hard…he wants to please. Silverio is a nice, friendly sort with a good head on his shoulders. And he’s one of those dogs that look even better in person. He’s seriously handsome!

It’s Harley with the white toes! This adorable little guy is a charmer through and through. He has one of those personalities that just draws you in. He’s very friendly and kind. He’s searching for his warm spot…where he’s loved and considered to be a real member of the family. Harley is a mountain cur mix, which is a fine thing to be. He’s about 7 months old now, and he behaves very well..especially considering he’s still a puppy. Harley weighs 42 pounds right now. He’s a good boy with tons of potential!!!
