God wants us to live peaceful lives. God hates the insecurity and fear evil brings to our lives. Apart of being a Christ follower is being a peace seeker. Make a list of how you can be an agent of peace in your community. Do you feel moved to make amends with neighbors? Co-workers? Family members? Maybe you feel called to speak against a particular injustice? It could be that you are nudged to finally are agree to volunteer in your local church. Make steps to be a peacemaker today!

God directly calls us to do justice! Justice in this passage looks like delivering those who have been oppressed, not mistreating others, and not shedding innocent blood. God is not neutral on issues of social justice. God has given us firm ground to stand on when it comes to morality. We can go to His Word as our solid ground to show us the way when we feel unsure about how to respond to difficult situations in our world. Is there someone or a group of people you know of that is experiencing injustice? If so, do all you can to help them. Let God’s Spirit guide you to be a godly advocate in our dark world.

The Old Testament documents God chasing after His children relentlessly. They continuously turn from Him, yet He still is graceful and merciful. As children of God, He has chased after us and forgiven us of our sins. It is our duty as Christians to continuously chase after others and show them the love of God, even if they turn from us. As difficult as it may be, is there anyone in your life who needs your forgiveness and mercy?

If we truly want to follow God, it's important to not be prejudice against some and show favoritism towards others. Let's show respect to everyone, regardless of their profession, race, abilities, or financial status. There will come a day when everyone will bow before our creator and give an account for how we have treated others as well as for all of our other sins. Don’t let that be the reason your name isn’t written in the Book of Life. God loves everyone, who are we to treat people differently? We might notice a change in our own lives when we respect everyone.

Righteous means to be morally right or justifiable. God’s view of what is “morally right” includes being concerned for the rights of the poor in our communities. He judges us by how we treat the most down and out in our society. Interestingly, in American Christianity we talk a lot more about righteous living that is inwardly focused. We focus on virtues such as honesty, hard work, or faithfulness; which all are characteristics the Bible promotes. Sometimes we don’t spend as much time talking about how we or systems in our society are treating the poor and needy. Proverbs highlights the importance of our engagement rather than ignorance on these issues. God’s heart is for the least of these.

There are many situations in life that call for bold action. Usually it's a social situation and interacting with someone else. Certainly a great amount of prayer is needed to be courageous because you are stepping out of your comfort and aligning yourself with Christ. Boldness is part of the journey in faith that we can plant the right seed or lead people in the right direction when we answer their questions. No matter how small it may be, is there a step you could take today towards being bold in your faith?

Mentoring and discipling doesn't mean we have to have our life together in order to take part in the mentoring. It's coming alongside someone and sharing a wee bit of our wisdom gained over the years. Quite possibly, just our presence alone of consistent connection builds up another and keeps our spirits high through the difficult times. Is there someone in your life that you are consistently pouring into and passing along these truths? Is God calling you to step out and mentor?

Our belief in Jesus has to go beyond our affiliation with a particular person or faith community. The faith we hold in our hearts has to be rooted in the truth of Jesus. If we are only following God because we want to please a particular person, if that person makes a mistake, there is a good chance your heart and faith will be damaged. Only faith rooted in Jesus alone is secure.

The disciples had been with Jesus enough to see many miracles done but yet they underestimated the power He had to control the wind. You may not be aware of your fears, but they drive at the heart of your words, actions, and attitudes. Take a moment and think about your fears. Now, think about each time Jesus has performed miracles in your life. When you uncover your fears and approach them with His past faithfulness, your fears will lose all control. Do you allow your fears to overtake your faith?

Exodus 6:1 🎚️

“𝕄𝕀𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕐”

If only we could wrap our brains around how great God is! He tells Moses at the start of this epic journey towards liberating the Israelite nation that his might will be on display. He promises that the people will be freed even though Moses on his own had absolutely no power to make this god-like ruler give up his free workforce. Moses took a massive step of faith by going before Pharaoh and telling him that his God was greater but his faith paid off because God kept to his word. We can trust when God tells us he is with us that he is able to see his plan to completion!
