The Eta Chapter of Omega Tau Sigma was proudly represented at the 2024 Grand Council held at Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario!

Twelve dedicated members traveled to this prestigious event, joining representatives from five other chapters from the United States and Canada. Following chapter presentations, the Eta Chapter was honored with the Robert Vesper Award for Community Service, as well as the John P. Donahue Award for Sustained Excellence.

Additionally, the group was thrilled to learn that Kristen Cohen received the John C. Gordon Award!

Our team has been closely monitoring the situation in Rockdale County. The flier below includes steps you can take to keep your animals safe and healthy. Initial testing shows no contamination to the surrounding fields, pastures, and waterways from this event.

BioLab Fire Update, 9/30/24, 8:15 p.m.

Here’s a recap of what you need to know as shared by Rockdale Emergency Management this evening:

▶️ EPA readings are back and everything is well below contamination level.
▶️ The shelter-in-place and evacuation zones have been lifted. Hurray!
▶️ The roadways in the immediate vicinity of BioLab will remain shut down and are being manned by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.

City Hall will be closed Tuesday, October 1 (a decision was made midday Monday, Sept. 30 to operate on a modified schedule). City staff will be working off-site and conducting business. Call 770-483-4411 starting at 8 a.m. for assistance and we’ll try our best to help you.

A decision about whether Pratt Industries will run the Tuesday, Oct. 1 sanitation route for city residents is pending and will be announced this evening. Thank you!

This AM on the way into work at the hospital today….The photos don’t do it justice but it appears that Biolab is back on fire. Video shared by authorities yesterday show no smoke plume and machinery removing building debis. It definitely doesn’t look that that today. 😱😤🤬

We are OPEN this morning (Tuesday) for our urgent care patients but please note that you will need to cut through the Shell Gas Station parking lot to get to our driveway because of the road block at the light on Green St and West Avenue. Mask up to prevent chlorine inhalation.

**OUR OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED TODAY, MONDAY SEPT 30 due to the Shelter in Place order. It isn’t safe to have clients come to this area today and all roads to our hospital are closed. We apologize for this—there is nothing we can do. We plan to open on Tuesday morning at 8 am and will see patients who need care.

**Newton County schools are also closing today because of the effects of the fire.

Rockdale County Animal Control has also been forced to evacuate. Now, large pieces of debris are falling from the sky. One of our groomers took the photos below….please do NOT touch the debris nor let your pets come into contact with it. It will be toxic to you, the pets and the environment.

Emergency Alert from GEMA - Georgia Emergency Management Agency Homeland Security on behalf of Rockdale County EMA has issued a SHELTER IN PLACE order due to a FIRE at BioLab, residents in the north half of the county should REMAIN INDOORS, CLOSE/LOCK WINDOWS AND DOORS, TURN OFF AIR CONDITIONERS.

Our office will be closing a little bit early today, Friday September 27th at 2 pm to give our staff the chance to clean up storm debris and repair their homes. Feel free to email or text if you need us to have a med refill or food order ready for you on Monday. ❤️
