The Bishop farmhouse, built in Conyngham along the Lehigh-Susquehanna Turnpike around 1840, featured seven rooms and a walk-in fireplace. The house was built by the Mumaw family and purchased in 1865 by Peter Bishop, who immigrated from Germany and fought in the Civil War. The house was typical of farmhouses built along old Indian trails and it remained essentially unchanged for its entire existence. The vacant home on School Lane was vandalized in the early 1980s and the property was boarded up. In 1982, residents tried to preserve the house as a historic landmark, but it eventually was demolished. Thanks to the Conyngham Valley Historical Society for the photo. Conyngham Park Program Registration Information:

Conyngham Park Program Registration for children ages 5 to 12 will be held Monday, May 9th and Wednesday, May 11th from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Conyngham Borough Building, 215 Main St.

The program will be held from June 20th to July 29th. It is a Monday through Friday program that runs from 9AM to 12 PM. Children must be at least 5 years of age by June 1st (birth certificates required for 5 year olds only).

A non-refundable payment of $160.00 per child is required at the time of registration. Check payable to Conyngham Borough. Registration forms are available at the Conyngham Borough Building during office hours or online at conynghamborough.org. Completed forms can be either mailed to Conyngham Borough, PO Box 442, Conyngham, PA 18219 or turned in at the Borough Building during office hours. The deadline for registration is May 15th.
