Good Morning!
I want to thank each of you, and especially those who have/had a recent order in with us.
Way too many have been behind schedule, and for a while I wasn’t able to figure out what was preventing me from keeping up with my normal schedule/pace.
This week, I made progress. 💪🏼
I saw a doctor who listened, who immediately ordered labs and sent me upstairs to draw right then.
Are you familiar with thyroid disease signs/symptoms?
I wasn’t.
I knew a few common ones, but I didn’t realize I was brushing a dozen signs off as nothing or unrelated to anything.
I didn’t take it seriously until my body temperature was low, and blood pressure reading prehypertension/hypertension. I’ve never had high blood pressure a single day in my life, always low side of normal. Huge 🚩
Here’s a few Fun Facts/Signs & Symptoms in case it might help anyone else. I wish I knew some of these earlier!
Fatigue
Generally feeling unwell
Low body temp
High blood pressure
PCOS
Shark Week (ladies, you know) changes/skipped
Depression
Anxiety
Thyroid/Scallop tongue
Dry mouth
Changes in hair/nails
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Swelling/fluid retention/puffy
Weight gain
Yellow hue on soles/palms
This is not a “pity me” post.
This is a “I’m happy to get answers” post.
I don’t like to go to the doctor. I’ll telehealth urgent care if I HAVE to for a sinus infection once I can’t breathe sort of thing. I haven’t had an established PCP in years.
LESSON LEARNED.
Do your panels. Know the symptoms. Log them. Follow up, and advocate for your health. No one else is going to. The same way we’d ask the vet for more tests/answers when our horses aren’t feeling their best…
If something doesn’t seem right, it’s probably not.
