Our Purina-Pet-of-the-Week is Chomski St. George! 🐾

This 2-year-old charmer came to Animal Humane Society as a stray, and it didn’t take long for him to win over the hearts of staff and volunteers. Chomski may have FIV, but it hasn’t slowed him down one bit. He’s sweet, social, and always ready for pets.

Chomski is known for his love of treats, his playful personality, and his ability to make every interaction feel special. If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate companion who’s equal parts snuggler and snack enthusiast, Chomski might just be your guy. 💙

Happy Tails! 🐾 Some adoptions just feel meant to be. Bailie shares:

"We were looking for a family dog. We went in to look at another dog but then saw Tinker. We ended up taking her home the next day and changed her name to Lainey. Lainey was literally belly up on the couch within 5 minutes of being home. She loves us all and is very happy here. She doesn’t really like other dogs or the mailman, but we’ve been working with her and she’s getting better. It’s been 3 months now since we adopted her and we are so happy we did."

Bonnie weighed 10 pounds when she was surrendered to Animal Humane Society. That’s half of what a healthy puppy her age and breed should weigh. Her ribs were clearly visible through her dull fur, and her skin stretched taut over the sharp ridges of her spine and hips. Emaciated and dehydrated, she was so weak she could barely walk.

Our passionate veterinary team quickly put together a specialized diet plan to help Bonnie gain weight. As she slowly regained strength, the light began to return to this sweet girl’s worried eyes, revealing a playful, curious puppy behind the pain.

But recovery took time, and there were plenty of hurdles along the way. Follow along with Bonnie’s full story below.

🐾 Meet Zema! This 4-year-old terrier mix has been with Animal Humane Society for more than 100 days and is more than ready to wiggle her way into your heart.

She’s a total sweetheart who melts into your arms for snuggles, loves to play, and hands out kisses like it’s her full-time job. Plus, she has the kind of puppy-dog eyes you just can’t resist.

Zema can be a little shy around other dogs at first, but give her a bit of time and she’ll be bouncing around with play bows and zoomies in no time.

This 2.5-year-old shepherd mix has been hanging out at Animal Humane Society for more than 60 days, and she’s ready to trade shelter life for couch cuddles. Sara’s mastered the art of leaning in for pets, is working on her tricks, and would love to be your one and only pup. With some training, daily walks, and plenty of enrichment, this smart girl will thrive and be your best friend! 💙

✨ Happy Tails! Tamirys shared her heartwarming story with us:

"I have wanted a kitty for forever, but between work, school, and living in a place that was basically wall-to-wall carpet (aka a fur-trap), I held off. But the moment I moved into my new place? First order of business: adopt a cat!

Buying an animal never even crossed my mind. I have always wanted to give a loving home to someone who needed one. So, when Animal Humane Society popped up on my Instagram — hello, algorithm — I saw this tiny little face named Dora. Ten minutes later, I was speed-walking out of work and driving to C**n Rapids like a woman on a mission.

Now, Dora goes by Regina Phalange (yes, I’m a Friends fanatic), and just two days after meeting her, she moved in. One week later, she has taken over the house, my heart, and everyone who steps through my door. I am just her unpaid assistant at this point. And it’s the best job ever!"

Each day at Animal Humane Society is new and exciting, and today is no exception — it's llama day! 🦙 A special day for our summer campers to visit with some lovable llamas. Campers had the opportunity to lead the llamas around, give hugs and treats, and even some AHS staff joined in on the fun.

🤩 Thanks to the incredible staff from Carlson's Llovable Llamas that helped provide a great experience and had a wealth of llama knowledge!
