‼ Heat Advisory: Keep your pets safe! ‼

It’s going to be a hot one this week for you and your pets! ☀️ Keep your four-legged friends safe by following the tips below. 😎🐾


💧 Always provide your pet with access to fresh, cool water - especially on hot summer days.


🐶 Seek shade when taking your pup out for potty breaks and avoid strenuous exercise. If your dog is one that thrives off of exercise and daily activity, it might be a good idea to take early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are lowest. During the day, consider other forms of enrichment that will keep them busy while inside.


🌡️ Experts say pavement temperatures can reach up to 60 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the air, especially while under sunlight. Protect your pet’s feet by taking walks on the grass instead.


🚗 You never should leave your pet unattended in a car (especially if it’s not running), even on cooler days because the temperature inside can rise rapidly. Consider leaving them at home if you won’t be able to stay in the car with them or bring them inside with you during your travels.


🩺 Heatstroke is a serious, life-threatening medical emergency. Some of the symptoms can include; excessively panting/drooling, weakness, collapse, difficulty breathing, vomiting, having bloody diarrhea, and more. If your pet is showing signs, get them to a veterinarian immediately.

Hey cat lovers, we need your help! 👋😸

We are looking for volunteers to join our team who would help care for the kitties in our adoption area at Petco. Duties include providing a clean living area for each cat (including cleaning litter boxes), feeding and watering, and giving lots of kitty snuggles! 😻Shifts are available in the morning and usually take about an hour to complete.

Please read below to see the dates/times for all clinics. 💉🐾

Clinics will be held in the admissions lobby of our shelter: 5082-5088 NY-28 Cooperstown, NY 13326.

Please remember to bring your pet’s previous rabies certificate with you if you have one, so that the veterinarian can look at it to determine if your pet is eligible for a 3 year vaccine.

Hailey is kicking off her Saturday with a delicious treat! 😋

We can't stand how adorable these photos are - isn't she just the sweetest?! 😍📸 Hailey is one lucky dog to be living her best life in a foster home while she waits for her family to come along! 🫶

This pretty girl tends to take her time warming up to new people, but once she feels comfortable around you, she is your pal for life! 🥹 Hailey really enjoys the company of other dogs and they really help her personality blossom. 🐶 Ideally, Hailey would have a confident doggie sibling or two in her new family to be her sidekick! 👯‍♀️

Kitten season is in full swing and we need your help! 🐱🙏

We are currently at our maximum capacity for care with kitties, which means our shelter space along with all of our foster homes are full. Sadly, despite our best efforts to help as many animals as possible, we receive countless calls daily from kind folks who have either found stray cats and kittens or need to rehome theirs. 🥺 This large volume along with being at our capacity for care means we must prioritize and strategize our intakes to ensure we care for those that are sick and suffering first. 🩺

Please know that as disappointing as it is for the callers to hear that we are full, it is even harder on our team members, who want nothing more than to help every single animal we can, to deliver that message to you. 😞 We are here for you to provide resources about care for kittens, food, and any other supplies we are able to help with. 🫶

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the New York State Police at 607-561-7400. 🙏

NYSP needs help finding the person who castrated this dog, possibly in the East Worcester area. The brown dog with white paws was found in East Worcester last week. He is believed to be approximately 5 years old and has a calm demeanor. He was found last week by good Samaritans wandering on State Highway 7 near the intersection of Booker Hollow Road in the East Worcester area. He was taken to a vet in the Latham area and stabilized. He was later transferred to the Susquehanna SPCA where he is recuperating. Anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Police at (607)561-7400.

Maybe you can't have a dog in your apartment but you love spending time with them or maybe you just want to give a homeless dog the best day ever. 🐶 Whatever your circumstances may be, we encourage you to consider our Foster Field Trip Program! 🙏

If you're interested, all you need to do is stop by and chat with one of our team members about your plans for the day and we'll help pick the perfect pup to accompany you! 😎 We will provide any needed supplies and just ask that you bring your new four-legged friend back before 5pm that day. 🫶 If you can, take lots of pictures that we can share with potential adopters to help the dog you spoiled for the day find their family! 📸
