As the cats filed in to colonize our business today, it was kitten all over my face. Pawsibly this was a mistake.

I was going mutts.

Katy Brown and I wanted to start a mewvement to end the war between cats and dogs, but this was a barking lot!! Cats everywhere in cardboard boxes at Just Kitties PlayCare, and subwoofers slinging slobber onto the beautiful bookcases at Doggie Corner Social Club. It was im-paws-ible.

Then, as Katy tripped over some doodles having the zoomies, she exclaimed, "Is this whole thing some sort of April Fool's joke?!"

I said, "Yes - I've just been kitten around. APRIL FOOLS!!"

And so it was. Both businesses came back from the bark side and changed things back to the way they were! We are once again Just Dogs PlayCare, where a dog can be just a dog-gone dog, and they are Kitty Corner Social Club , Iowa City's first cat cafe -- a safe haven for humans and felines!

And the war between dogs and cats? As we paw-nder the pet-ential, we truly believe they could be friends fur-ever. It's not too far-fetched.

There's a fur-st for everything!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

As owner of Just Dogs PlayCare in Coralville, Iowa, something has been hounding me.

I've been going through a rough pooch lately, thinking about this silly battle between dogs and cats. It has gone on for far too long! They just need to stop fighting, hiss, and make up!

So I put my thinking cat on and said, "Doggone it! Maybe I should renegotiate the terms of my leash!" How about changing the name of our business to Just Kitties PlayCare?

And what if -- oh, this was kitten in the stars! -- Katy Brown of Kitty Corner Social Club in Iowa City Kitty Corner Social Club changed the name of her business to Doggie Corner Social Club?!

When I asked her, she said, "You've cat to be kitten me. I think you're barking up the wrong tree."

"Trust me, I'm a dog-tor," I reassured her. So she let go of her cattitude and said, "Yes, it is time to hit paws and live in the meow. Let's do it! Let's resolve this age-old riff!"

So starting today...
bring your cats to us and your dogs to her.
It'll be fine.
Trust me, I'm a dog-tor!
There's no way this could be a cat-astrophe.
We are pawsitive!

Huxley L (Yellow Lab puppy) was the last to go home from his Spring Break stay at Camp Sunny. And he had fun with Carol and Brad (and Gumby :)) right up until the end. We can't wait for the return of many dogs having fun and being just a dog-gone dog, but in the meantime...enjoy!

How about going for a walk between Zoom meetings?!!? Here's Ali and her dog, Jinx (Golden Retriever), practicing safe walking. Teaching your dog to sit prior to crossing a street is always a good idea. Don't forget to look both ways, Jinx! 🙂
