This sweet girl and I met about 8 years ago.
She was muzzled and every kid in the neighborhood was scared of her.
I don't blame them. She was an intimidating show of teeth with the growl to match.
She and her humans became pack members and big supporters of the Upstate Dog Academy, Greenville SC LLC
She boarded with me at least 12 times over the years and she will be missed. She died peacefully in her sleep in bed between her owners.
What a great ending for a dog that was set to be euthanized at 2 years of age. And what a great testament of love from the family that saved her, and WORKED with her and loved her.
I found out this morning that my man Riggs went for his last trip to the vet. I didn't expect to get emotional. I knew his time was short for a long time.
But it's never easy to say goodbye. And he taught me so many lessons.
But Clifford is moved into the dorms and he and Elissa are off to college. Otis found a forever home. Porter is still here freaking out over a ball. And more and more people keep learning the upstate way to effectively communicate with their dog. There are so many happy stories to focus on.

My daily highlight is the morning, which I find peaceful and calming, enhanced by the sounds of animals beginning their day. Today, I will be working on recall exercises outdoors with Ranger, my canine companion, and the miniature educator. Ranger displays avoidance tendencies towards e-collar work due to a negative association resulting from a hot collar experience. I welcome you to observe the advancements I have made with him.

It's not 4:20 yet! But it's Dooby time. He's known to be a creeper and will sneak up on you. He packs a good punch and won't leave you disappointed.
But he's not for the first time handler. He's got his family worn out.
He knows his stuff. I just finished working him. So it's time for some help. The goal more freedom for Dooby.

Training your dogs is more than obedience.
It's the foundation of a great relationship.
Had a blast on vacation with the kiddos. Loved listening to my 10 y/o saying things like. Our dogs can do that.
I've taught dogs to do that.
And Dad this is awesome.
Look for Shep balancing on a barrel and jumping rope.

2 of our new board and train dogs.
Working on pack dynamics and proper yard time.
Supervision prevents fights and creates proper dog behaviors.
Before this week of play ends these 2 won't require total supervision to properly interact and play.
But today they need a guiding hand.

Patience is the vital ingredient, but it's a relative concept, and my enthusiastic 10-year-old has a lead foot. We introduced the recall game to Tigeress today, working at 15 to 20 feet. The goal just to teach the game and use it to build distance and distractions. Next thing I know, Corey was 80 feet away, and Tigeress was out of breath.
We're now ready to add distractions to take our training to the next level!
