Minkie was pretty taken with her new friend Dr. Kritzinger! She got lots of snuggles when she came in for her recent visit. Her mom shared that her nickname is “Monkey Face,” and we can definitely see the likeness🐒

Banjo and Roofer were very popular during their recent puppy visit! Puppy snuggles are definitely one of the perks of the job 🥰 They had fun getting to know the staff and enjoying lots of treats. We always try to make these first visits as fun as possible to set pets up for a lifetime of fear free vet visits!

Junior is feeling patriotic and ready to enjoy the upcoming Fourth of July holiday! 🇺🇸 🎆 He knows he doesn’t have to feel worried about all the scary loud noises because his mom got him some special medicine to help him stay calm! If the “rocket’s red glare” has your dog feeling stressed out, make sure you have their anti-anxiety medication on hand ahead of time! If you’ve never tried such medication and think it might benefit your pet, feel free to reach out to your pet’s doctor to discuss options. That way our dogs can get back to enjoying time outside playing with friends and family - and maybe even snag a bite of abandoned hot dog 🌭

This treatment can be used in a variety of ways; Hugo receives his to improve age-related mobility issues. Angus is a biiiiig boy! He is approximately one vet tech long 😹 Angus recently came in to see Dr. James for some sedated Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and PennHIP radiographs to determine his risk for hip dysplasia. Luckily, his x-rays were rated with the best PennHIP score in NMAH history! This means that his risk of hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis is extremely low. Here’s to a very long, healthy, and happy life, Angus!

Cheyenne and Teagan got lots of kitten snuggles during Murphy’s recent visit. Look closely - you’ll see he has extra toes on his front paws! This condition - known as polydactyly - is caused by a genetic mutation. Luckily, in almost all cases the condition causes no adverse effects on mobility, play, or overall quality of life. Though if you swipe to the end, the jury’s still out on whether he’s part parrot 🦜😹

Ready for your midweek pick-me-up? This is Winston. In addition to just being a really great boy, he’s now a hero, too! His blood donation allowed for a transfusion that saved little Alex’s life. Alex engaged in some puppy shenanigans and ingested a couple of pennies. When his body started trying to digest them, he ended up with zinc toxicosis (see photos for the x-ray that discovered the pennies as well as what the pennies looked like after Dr. Spickler was able to surgically retrieve them). In addition to Winston’s life-saving transfusion and Dr. Spickler’s surgical skills, the whole NMAH team really stepped up to make Alex’s treatment happen. Angie, Tristen, Allison, Katrina, and Chelsea especially went above and beyond to provide amazing care. Check the comments to see sweet Alex enjoying a snack post-surgery! We’re so grateful for Winston and for our incredible team who made it possible for Alex to be back home with his family today ❤️

Vera Wang 6 weeks after a femur head ostectomy (FHO)- we had to remove the ball that fits into the hip socket off the top of femur! Look at her go!

This is a short video of Dr. Crutchfield and 'Lucky' the juvenile Red Tailed Hawk, as he returns home. Lucky was hit by a car out in front of the animal hospital, while trying to catch some lunch. Several good Samaritans helped stop traffic on highway 21 while Dr. Crutchfield and Susan collected him off the road. Fortunately He checked out OK and hasn't called back with any complaints!
