A high quality ecollar and prong collar, slip lead, or martingale will be required for the Foundations to Freedom course. Tools can be purchased through me for a discounted price.

Welcome to our newest board and train’s: Meatball and June.♥️

Meatball is a 5 month old Boston Terrier and is here to learn all of the basics as well as focus on some potty training and puppy biting.🐶

June is a 9 month old Golden Retriever who was re-homed to her current owner at the end of last year. She has already been through one training program but her owner wasn’t happy with the lack of tools and reliability that program offered. Now June is here for a 2 week board and train to refresh her foundational skills and learn the language of the Ecollar so her owner can replicate her training back at home.😊

Keep an eye on our stories to watch these two continue to progress through their training.🐾

Understanding Littermate Syndrome in Puppies

Bringing home two puppies from the same litter might seem like a great idea—they’ll have built-in companionship, right? However, many dog owners are unaware of the challenges that come with Littermate Syndrome, a behavioral condition that can develop when sibling puppies are raised together.

What is Littermate Syndrome?

Littermate Syndrome is a set of behavioral issues that arise when two puppies from the same litter (or even unrelated puppies of the same age) are raised together. These issues often stem from excessive bonding between the puppies, making it difficult for them to develop independence and proper social skills.

Signs of Littermate Syndrome:

Severe Separation Anxiety: Puppies become highly distressed when separated, making training and socialization more difficult.

Fearfulness: They may become overly reliant on each other, leading to increased anxiety in new situations or around unfamiliar dogs and people.

Difficulty in Training: Since they focus more on each other than their human, training sessions can become ineffective.

Inter-Puppy Aggression: As they grow, fights between littermates can become more intense, sometimes escalating into serious conflicts.

How to Prevent Littermate Syndrome

If you’re raising two puppies together, consider these steps to ensure they grow into well-adjusted, independent dogs:

Separate Training Sessions: Train each puppy individually to ensure they learn to focus on you rather than each other.

Encourage Independence: Allow them to spend time apart daily so they learn to be comfortable alone.

Socialization: Expose each puppy to different people, dogs, and environments separately.

Individual Bonding: Spend one-on-one time with each puppy to strengthen your personal relationship with them.

Should You Get Two Puppies?

While raising two puppies is possible, it requires significant effort and commitment. If you’re considering adopting littermates, be prepared to implement structured training and socialization strategies to prevent Littermate Syndrome.

By understanding and addressing Littermate Syndrome early, you can help your puppies grow into happy, confident, and independent dogs!

Welcome Leo to our 3 Week Board and Train Program.🥳

Leo actually just finished up his first week with us and this is what he has been working on.⬇️

• aggression / reactivity towards new people
• agression / reactivity to other dogs
• anxiety and destructive behavior when crated

In Leo’s owner’s own words:

“The main reason why I am seeking training is because his behavior is becoming unpredictable, and I want a peaceful, happy life for Leo as well as for us. I want to be able to take him places and do things as a family and ensure that he has a good life.”

Leo has already begun making tremendous progress with us and I can’t wait to see what he continues to accomplish over the next 2 weeks with us.♥️

Welcome Bernard! ♥️

Bern is a 5 year old Boxer who has already completed 1 out of the 3 weeks for his board and train program.🐶

Bernard is with us to work on his overall anxiety but most importantly his nervy behavior when he is crated.

Mr. Bern is also here to address some reactive behavior and increase his comfort around men. He recently had a bite incident with a family member so we will be working to set clear expectations around the appropriate way to respond in high energy/stress moments.

Stay tuned to watch Bernard as he progresses through our program.🥳

Starting off our March introductions is Baloo the 6 month old Lab. ♥️

Baloo is a cutie who has proven quite the challenge to potty train back home. Whether he’s out and about or in the crate, accidents have been a constant. So in addition to teaching him all the important foundation skills we’ll also be spending the next 3 weeks working on Baloo’s crate training and getting him on a successful potty protocol.🐕

Stay tuned to see more of Baloo and his training journey.♥️

Slugger the 1 year old Morkie headed home today after his 2 week program.♥️

Things we focused on during his training and his go home lesson:

Place
Down
Implied Stay
Recall
Heel

We also covered how to correct and address unwanted behaviors in addition to disscusing mindset and the importance of building independence.

Commonly, small dog’s like slugger, are quite accustomed to be being held, snuggled, and generally coddled. They often miss the lesson on how to just be a dog. Naturally, it was adjustment for Slugger to shift into a working mindset and learn how to navigate life and self regulate his emotions on his.

He made significant progress during the 2 weeks he was here but this is just the beginning! As his parents maintain consistency with his training at home he will only continue to grow and improve.♥️
