🐾 Introducing BBK9’s new Training Assistant — Jodee! 🐾
We’re so excited to welcome Jodee to our team! 🎉

Jodee recently graduated from SUNY Cobleskill with a Bachelor of Technology in Animal Science: Canine Training & Management, where she gained hands-on experience in obedience, tracking, detection, and behavior work. She’s also completed internships and field programs with organizations like Auburn University, Penn Vet Working Dog Center, and the Albany Police K9 Unit, giving her a strong foundation in handling and understanding dogs of all temperaments.

Jodee has already caught on quickly to our protocols here and is a natural with the dogs in addition to offering a fun and positive attitude to the training environment. We are so happy to have her on board and know you and your dog’s will appreciate her too. 🐶✨

Our Graduate Daycare program is open to training graduates who want to keep building on their skills in a fun, structured environment. Each session includes a balance of exercise, social time, adventures, and continued training to keep your dog active, confident, and on track.

Welcome to our newest group of Board & Trains! 🐶

I finally dug my camera out of its moving box, so what better way to celebrate than with some welcome photos? 🥳

🐾 Kona – a 5-year-old German Shepherd who’s here for 3 weeks to work through reactivity and defensive behavior toward strangers in the home.

🐾 Cara – an 8-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog / Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix spending 2 weeks with us to build her foundational skills and work through common puppy challenges like jumping, potty training, and overall listening.

🐾 Bindi – a Border Collie and housemate of one of our past trainees, Ben! Bindi is here for 2 weeks to catch up on the same skills Ben mastered—especially her recall. She’s also a sensitive girl with a few noise phobias, so we’ll be focusing on building her confidence and helping her work through those tricky moments.

We can’t wait to see the progress these pups make and help each of them become the best version of themselves. 😊

🚨 Hiring: Balanced Training Assistant! 🚨

Balanced Beginnings K9 is now hiring for a longer term role. I am looking for a hardworking, thorough, confident, and outgoing Training Assistant.

This is a physically active role (~20 hrs/week) working directly alongside me, hands-on with dogs every day. Pay will reflect experience.

👉 What you’ll do:
• Handle, train, and care for dogs of all breeds, sizes & temperaments
• Help with client lessons and hand-offs
• Potty, feed, and care for dogs in the program
• Daily cleaning & upkeep of kennels and training spaces

👉 Requirements:
• 21+ years old
• Experience working with and handling dogs
• Comfortable being on your feet and active all day
• Confident communicator with clients
• Reliable transportation

✨ Preferred but not required: Experience with balanced training tools and methods.
