Hi everyone! It's Amelia.β€οΈ
Sorry this is so long! I tried to break it into segments to make it as easier read...I am just too excited, and, I want to make sure to put a few things out there before we open back up. πΆ
As we get closer to reopening the shop at our new spot in Cornville I feel like I need to remind everyone that I will not personally be grooming dogs yet.
I will definitely be a big part of the business but I will not be the one cutting hair like I was before. We will be opening part time, with only basic services at first, but it's a start and we are excited to be getting back to work!π»π»π»
We are adding local mobile nail trims to our services!
I want to cut hair, and I miss my grooming customers, but my hands won't let me do that kind of labor right now.
I need to have my carpal tunnel fixed before I can do much dog grooming. Especially doodles and cats. Anything I need to keep a hand on (cats) or spend a lot of time sc******ng (poodles and doodles) hurts me a lot right now.
I cannot take the down time required for surgery until our baby girl is older.
I am also breastfeeding her on demand, and she's very VERY demanding! π She is a strong willed girl already.π©·
I may choose to groom a small dog here and there for fun but I'm not really sure how I'll even make that work yet... Please don't try to convince me to take your dog as an exception...I want to help everyone and I struggle with saying no.
If I start making exceptions, next thing you know I'll be knee deep in dog hair again! π
I have to focus on this baby right now and on keeping my CTS from getting worse. I'll be back to it full force eventually but it will be a while...in the meantime, Sean will be the one really running the show and he's amazing. β€οΈπ§‘ππ
Most of you know my partner in life, parenthood, and business, Sean Seppala. Sean is incredible with dogs. .he is just as good as I am when it comes to connecting with animals!π»
Sean and I met in the dog care industry working at a pet hotel / dog rescue years ago. He has been working professionally with dogs and cats for over a decade. He has specialized in rescue dogs and is very gentle with the scared ones.
Sean will co-own Hair of the Dog and will be doing most of the physical work this time around, at least for now. πͺ
I will help a lot but I will have my hands full with our baby. She is 8 months old and a lot of work but so worth it. She is our everything.
I will let everyone know which days we will be open and I will begin to book appointments very soon!
You will just love Sean, and I'll be around with our baby girl Summer to help and to say hello! π©·π©·π©·
Sean is younger and stronger and can handle a lot more than I can physically however he is not trained in scissor work so we will not be offering full service grooms on dogs who require fancy guard work or scissored haircuts (doodles, poodles, shihtzus, etc).....unless.....you don't mind him practicing his grooming skills on your pup under my guidance!
He already possesses fabulous clipper skills. Sean has been doing baths, nails, and shave downs professionally for several years. As a groomer, he is not starting from square one, but when it comes to fancy cuts and round heads, he still has a lot to learn.
He is very interested in learning and honing his skills as a pet stylist!
I have been grooming dogs for 18 years and I am more than willing to guide him as he develops his trade.
So to reiterate,
I will NOT personally be offering haircuts at this time. Do not book expecting me to be your stylist right now.
But,
If you'd like Sean to practice his grooming skills on your dog under my guidance, we are happy to accommodate you.

πΆπΆπΆ He can also just shave the sanitary area if p**p tends to get stuck in your pets fur.
πΊ If you'd like a kitty cat shaved down, he can do that also! πΊ
π But for scissored styles on long haired dogs, I am not grooming at this time. π
I know I keep saying that, I just want to make sure that there is no misunderstanding! πΊπΆ
I'll talk to everyone soon about when we will officially be open! π»π»π» Even though I'm not cutting hair yet I am super excited to be a part of this again....running a pet business is absolutely what I do best and I am thrilled to do this as a family! π₯°
(This photo is of an intense Great Pyrenees de-shed Sean was working on at the shop in Mountainaire last year. This was before the dog was even bathed!! None of this hair was shaved. This wool was all under coat that he was raking out! The dog looked and felt 100 pounds lighter after Sean was finished! He is truly amazing at what he does. )
Talk to y'all soon!!!
