Sometimes you just have to talk to them. Saying “no” repeatedly isn’t going to get the message across. Showing them you have patience is the key. Also, having your frustration restrained is NECESSARY. Two wrongs don’t make a positive experience for either of you. Do I get frustrated? Absolutely ! Is the dog having a bad day to spite me? Absolutely not! They don’t mean to make your day more challenging there’s just a gap in communication. A dog can’t tell you that the way you are holding them is uncomfortable, or that a senior dog has sore muscles or painful joints, or that a previous grooming experience traumatized them. That is as where us as groomers need to bridge that gap and be aware of their body language, take a deep breath and change or strategy to make them more comfortable 💕🐾💕🐾
