Update: We want to thank our supporters in trying to find these dogs an exit, but we want to set the record straight that we do not give animals a deadline. We encourage adoptions by a certain time to prevent suffering which is often caused by long lengths of stay, or inability to provide/meet their needs. Prolonged periods of stay cause mental, physical and emotional decline. We are tying to be proactive in finding them safe exits not reactive. We cannot place a date on when an animal is doing well or not, we can only try to get ahead of it when we see the signs. Thank you for your support and understanding. Please do not misunderstand that we can house animals indefinitely, but all decisions are made based on the individual animals wellbeing.
💥 Our mission today- securing adoption for our 3 most urgent dogs. 💥
Rex- there’s no explanation for such things. Rex came into this shelter wearing a vest that said “best friend” and while we can’t divulge too much information, the person on his microchip knows Rex was brought in to the shelter. Rex didn’t originally try to escape, but after his months long stay he figured out he can scale our fence and now it’s challenging to let Rex exercise without worry he’ll escape and something bad happen. This is why he’s urgent. He needs a big yard, lots of exercise, and a savvy owner.
Lindy- sweet Lindy. We don’t know much about her previous life, but we do know she’s a very mild tempered dog. She is dog friendly but would likely prefer a male friend. She’s becoming depressed and lays in her kennel most days. She has a big bark, but she’s all talk. She’s urgent due to her long length of stay and is currently the longest shelter resident.
Buzz- Shelter staff distinctly remembers Buzz and his female companion (who was adopted right away) being brought in the back of a car. Buzz was not happy and very protective of his lady friend. For weeks no one could handle Buzz, but we knew Buzz wasn’t a “bad dog” just misunderstood. With some time and work Buzz is now a friendly happy guy, who’s most content to play with his stuffies and chill in the yard. Buzz would probably be happy being a livestock guardian or given a job that he can do outdoors. He is also urgent due to a long length of stay and no adoption interest.
Shelter is waiving all adoption fees for these 3 dogs.
