Please forgive me if my wording here is scattered or less than professional. I write this message both as the Owner of Wag’n Tails and Michael O’Bryan the person. Earlier today, my heart was absolutely shattered when I got word that Belinda Jones passed away. I met Belinda in February after I purchased Wag’n Tails. The moment I met Belinda at the Chamber of Commerce, she and I instantly connected.

Belinda wasn’t just someone I could talk to—she was someone I could trust with my whole heart. Whether it was about my personal struggles or the challenges I faced with Wag’n Tails, she was always there. She listened, she cared, and she gave the kind of advice that came straight from her soul.

She didn’t just help me with the store—she believed in me. She made me feel like I could handle things even when I felt like I couldn’t. And now that she’s gone, I already feel so lost.

Belinda was pure light. She gave so much to this community, and honestly, I don’t know how we’re all going to move forward without her. There’s this enormous hole where she used to be, and it hurts so much to know she’s gone.

At first, I couldn’t believe she never told me about her cancer, but to be honest, that’s exactly the kind of person Belinda was. She kept her cancer a secret because she would never want someone to feel burdened by sadness.

To her family and everyone who loved her: I’m so sorry. I wish I could carry the pain for you. I wish there were better words, but there aren’t. Just know that she made such a huge difference in my life as well as Wag’n Tails, and so, so many others.

Belinda, you were truly one of a kind. You weren’t just a friend or family in my eyes. You were an Angel, and I’m going to miss you forever. Rest easy, my friend. You’ll always have a place in my heart.

To all fellow small business owners of Coronado… the team at the Chamber of Commerce all work very hard to support us and our businesses. This loss has devastated them all very deeply. Now it’s our turn to help them. Please surround them with lots of love and support while they grieve.
